Great book - but pitfalls when trying to order
Review created: 02/09/09(updated 06/08/09)

This book is one in a multi-volume series of books on collecting patches. For the ultra-serious US patch collector, and ONLY the ultra-serious patch collector, it is a must. Profusely illustrated with numerous variations of each unit patch, with excellent historical information on whether the variation is from WW1, inter-war, WW2, Korean War, German made, Japanese made, etc. If the Kellers say it is so, it is so.
However, I must share the fact that I had a lot of difficulty in ordering books from this series. Each volume in the series has a very lengthy, and almost identical title.
Example:
United States Army Shoulder Patches and Related Insignia: From World War I to Korea, 1st Division to 40th Division
United States Army Shoulder Patches and Related Insignia: From World War I to Korea, 41st Division to 41st Division to 106th Division, Volume 2
This causes many listing errors on the seller's part. I emailed several people who were listing volume 2, to confirm that it was indeed that volume, and the reply was that no, they had made a mistake and actually had Volume 1. One seller replied that he did have Volume 2, so I ordered it and received Volume 1. After I returned the book, the seller immediately relisted it as Volume 2.
This was my experience in all of the online book-selling venues. But I did manage to find the best deal on eBay and got the 3 volumes I was looking for.
So - if you are the type who is willing to pay $50 and up for a nice patch for your collection, then this book is for you, but it may take some effort on your part to get the correct volumes in the series.
