A Great Handset - Compatible With Many Uniden Systems

The TCX905 Handset is the 'heart and soul' of Uniden's new TRU 9480 Series Cordless Phone Systems (see my Guide on those), and is also compatible as a replacement or add-on with most of Uniden's other 5.8 Gigahertz cordless systems.
The Handsets are full-featured. They are a long and trim design, comfortable for both the small-handed and large-handed. The backlit buttons and LCD display, along with some of the other features, will make anyone who has ever used a good cellphone feel right at home. When making a call, you can first punch the call button for a dial tone and dial the number, as you're used to with home phones, OR you can punch in the number first and hit the call button, like you're used to with cellphones. These will also support a Headset, via the cellular standard 2.5mm jack, if you prefer that. The Antenna is completely internal, in the earpiece end - no extendable piece to wear out or break off, and no stub to poke and snag everything it comes in contact with. There is a switchable 'T-Coil' support for Hearing Aid Compatibility - On if needed, of course, or Off to extend battery life if it isn't needed.
The handset supports Caller ID and Call Waiting Deluxe, storage of up to 100 Names with Two Numbers for each, Direct Link intercom among any pair of these handsets (which can also serve as a Room/Baby Monitor, while the other handsets continue handling calls), Speakerphone in each handset, 10 Speed Dial numbers, Redial (which remembers the last 3 numbers), Call Transfer, Conferencing, and Hold. There are 20 different Ringers to choose from (10 ring tones and 10 musical tunes), with Volume Adjustments for both ringers and earpiece. Battery Life is rated at 7 days on standby and 5 hours talk time - which I haven't personally put to the test yet, but it's certainly an improvement over previous cordless phones. Text Menus on these can be set to do their thing in English, Spanish, or French - per the North American NAFTA standard.
Also included with each Handset is a plastic snap-on Belt Clip - though personally I prefer just sliding the phone in a pocket. The placement of the belt clip, if you chose to use it, wraps around the antenna area of the handset, which would have some potential for reducing usable range.

I originally bought the handset and 2 phones. Worked so well I decided to add 2 more to the set. 1 for the garage and the other for the spare bedroom. I like the cordless feature (no jack needed) and the 5.8GHz has no static even in the intercom mode. Enjoy the handset speakerphone when I'm busy doing something. Recommend it highly.

Although many of ad showing the TCX905 Handset is 1-Line Cordless Expansion Handset, however it is fully compatible to 2-Line operation if it connected on Uniden's 2-Line base unit such as TRU 9466, and is also compatible to 1-Line operation like TRU 9485.
It was easy to add on my existing system and satisfied to my expectation.

This model isn't even a match to my base unit, a TRU-8885-2, but it works like a champ. Even though it isn't the same model as my base, it was easy to program. The clarity is excellent, and I love being able to put these extra handsets anywhere I have a power outlet, instead of having to be right by a phone jack. I wish I would have had these phones before I paid our builder all that extra money for all these phone jacks!

I found these handsets very easy to program and to use. I really liked the cloning feature that allows phone book entries to be copied directly from the base station. The phones work well and sound great inside the house regardless of distance from base station. Who needs several types of cordless phones all plugged into a physical line when you can have one base station and several interchangeable cordless phones? Great product!

This is an excellent product and a good buy for you if you are limited on phone jacks,if you dont really want the expence of putting more jacks in then this is the phone for you.
This handset expans to up to nine additional handsets, and with all of the other features that it has, you need to check this out.

I purchased this expansion Phone because it matched my Uniden TRU8866 system. I was looking for another expansion unit and this was the only one I could find either in a store or on the internet. It matched up perfectly with the system and all phone numbers stored in the system were easily transferred to this unit. Range is excellent. It is easy to find the caller ID numbers and to pull up the numbers stored int he phonebook. Not surprisingly the operation is similar to a cellphone.
Only downside I have found is that the speaker is on the back of the phone so that when you want to use it hands free and you lie the phone on its back it is slightly hard to hear. I am not sure if this is not a broblem with all portable units.

This phone just requires setting the extension to the master station for a few seconds and it to registers to your system automatically. It can be one of up to 10 extensions. The phone has great battery life and never has any kind of interference or problems. Getting to the phonebook could be easier and the ringer isn't ofter loud enough. However, everything else is perfect and really easy to use.

For the money, this is the best 2 line phone on the market. The base unit has a few things that are not as user friendly as they could be. Programing of the units is very easy. Durability is very good. Range is good but not excelent.

I use them with a Packet8 VOIP system and they work great! I wish they had more range, but that could also be a function of the base unit. The room monitor feature is really nice as it works better than a standard baby monitor.

My family loves this phone. My wife likes that she can page me and use this as an intercom.
She can extend her ball and chain:)
I used the uniden expandable set because of its high ratings on Consumer Reports. It is also very affordable and extra hand sets are widely available (we keep losing ours). It can expand to quite a few handsets (think it goes to 8). We keep 5 phones registered to it.

I purchased the Uniden TRU9485-2 a month ago and decided to try using its expandability feature. I purchased the TCX905 handset and followed the directions to set it in the home base. Within seconds it was added to the system as a third handset. It couldn't get much easier than that.

Sound quality is good, and features are easy to use. Registering a handset to the base is instant--just put the new handset in the base for a few seconds. The number keys feel solid and smooth; the jog-dial feels a little flimsy, but as long as it works and it holds up in use, I don't really care.
Several features are missing, however. First noticed was that the system doesn't get the time from the caller-id information--you have to set it. Why???? The handsets don't show if the line is in use--which may be because you can use handsets which aren't involved in the online conversation for other things simultaneously, but I still like knowing if the line is available for me to place a call. Only three redial numbers are saved, which probably ought to be enough but isn't. A VERY minor annoyance: the charge light on the charger units stays red; on my older phone, it turned green if the phone was fully charged.
Over all, good phone system.

I bought this phone to expand the Uniden phone set I already have. It is a newer version than the phone set I have but it works seemlessly with my phone base. Getting the phone to match/sync my base was very easy too. Just make sure your base matches this phone.

I like these phone as you can add more then one cordless unit to the base. (Up to ten I believe! We have 2.) I use these at work and can walk all the way across the street and still have signal. The restaurant caddy corner from us has them too and they like them as well. (yes I still get signal inside there building.) I also like the headset plug which is a standard size plug and makes hands free easy. (Great for an auto mechanic like my self.) You can program a lot of numbers in the memory and the 100 caller ID list is great for looking up customers that called you earlier in the week. (this has saved me many times!) You can check the messages on the base or from the cordless hand set. Which is a nice feature if you need some privacy. If I was going to do it again I might get the newer seires, but would be happy with this again.

I needed another extension in my home. Uniden has always made a good product. It was weird that i couldn't buy it from Uniden though as it is an older model. I ordered from one place and it was backordered and then the second place came through, brand new and perfect.

uniden phonebe aware that only certain phones with be able to cross over. the tcx 905 will but most phones like the 9480 are different from the 9465.
