Uniden B-DCT7585-3 2.4 GHz Trio 1-Line Cordless Phone

Thank goodness for the return policy of a certain discount warehouse....as after 5 weeks (and why we waited that long I'll never know!) we could take no more!
We purchased this for all the features it offered in one package - cordless phone with digital answering machine; three handsets small and look almost like a cell phone so not obtrusive; two of which came with sleek bases that did not require tying up the phone line, option of caller ID, memory which will remember 100 names / numbers, you can chose your ring tone - unlike many other home phones, there were many choices (20) so you could have the Star Spangled banner on July 4th and Merry Christmas around the holidays!!
BUT...what use are fancy ringtones if no one can hear you??? I make a lot of overseas calls, and my mum, not knowing we had just changed our phone, commented on the line sounding very muffled - this continued the duration of our time with this phone...and as soon as we switched (again, she did not know this was the case) she commented how clear the line was again!! So, we know it was the phone - not the phone service! My poor 90 year old grandma with already compromised hearing, just couldn't understand me at all and even when my hubby called from work - 10 miles away the line sounded muffled.
Its a shame as this phone system looked promising - but all other features - answering service, sleek phones, less lines to plug in - lal go out the window when the main thing you use a phone for - to converse - was the poorest thing about this phone!
