Theis was fighting before the rules

This book has what I seen 100 times in his films and in his newsreels and I followed most boxers/fighters since these men who never took a standing eight count if they got hit too hard so as to regain their senses, the refreree was the only man to "have the best seat in the house" as that was his job, for there were no rulles in this Gladitorial morass where if a man got knocked dowm, the opponent did NOT go to a neutral corner., he hovered over his opponent until he got close enough to rip one up the side of his opponent's head to see his go through the ropes and the sort of that...that was "International FIGHTING Champeenship" as Jack Johnson kept referring to it, as he talked and talked his manager to "let me have a shot a it". This was not "Muhammad Ali" with his footwork and dancing or "Joe Louis" the "Brown Bomber" who rallayed a nation around a black man, for as you will see, Jack Johnson was the FIRST Black Man to E~V~E~R hold the Heavyweight Belt, and the rounds went sometimes into the hundreds, but more often, round 20, 30, 40..until an opponent could not answer the Bells of St Peter! But, you saw "Stallone" go to "Russia" to make like he was absolutely roughing it to beat the Ivan of the year??
Well? Where did Stallone get the idea to heave barrellfuls of rocks to heave up and down all day until he weighed 180 pounds, and "RIPPED"??? This man had sixpaks on his butt as I saw it..not an ounce of fat, just muscle and speed, not seen until "Mr. Ali!"..that was "Jack Johnson", who did it daily as there was NO GYM for Jack, he went to barns and did what "Rocky" did in make believe land.
When NO black man entertained the idea of even standing in the same ring with a white man...Jack wanted that more that anyone in the world...the entire WORLD...that was his target, and, now... you have to read it to finish this man's story of the FIGHTERS against the Boxers ...was there ever a difference...there never will be! Not in this man's lifetime!~!~! Geoffrey Ward wrote this book and was an outstanding editorializing macchine, for Jack Johnson, my god, was sumpthin'...I remember this last fact of the Championship Fight...as his opponent laid on the ground (covering his eyes, as he no longer wanted to fight this man Jack, and no man that is unconscience will cover his eyes to keep the sun out of them, so as Jack got himself darned sure that the money was in his manager's hands or put away on a waiting train in 100 degree heat, Jack made hid next move of hate against the white newspress of the day, as he grabbed the "spit bucket- ful" and dumped it on the press///something most celebs would love to do today...you know??? The Poperatsees! (then you spell it!~!~!)Rick "Fourstrings" Lauzon
