Synopsis
This delightful piece of fluff from chick lit author extraordinaire Sophie Kinsella, writer of the bestselling Shopaholic series, introduces ambitious, driven London lawyer Samantha Sweeting. Samantha's hopes of a partnership at the firm are dashed when she makes a career-torpedoing error. In her shock and horror, she hops onto a train, ending up in front of a country mansion, whose owner believes Samantha to be a prospective housekeeper and hires her! Samantha welcomes the chance to escape her troubles and accepts the job, even though she hasn't a clue how to perform the simplest of household tasks.

Publisher's Note
Workaholic attorney Samantha Sweeting has just done the unthinkable. She’s made a mistake so huge, it’ll wreck any chance of a partnership.

Going into utter meltdown, she walks out of her London office, gets on a train, and ends up in the middle of nowhere. Asking for directions at a big, beautiful house, she’s mistaken for an interviewee and finds herself being offered a job as housekeeper. Her employers have no idea they’ve hired a lawyer–and Samantha has no idea how to work the oven. She can’t sew on a button, bake a potato, or get the #@%# ironing board to open. How she takes a deep breath and begins to cope–and finds love–is a story as delicious as the bread she learns to bake.

But will her old life ever catch up with her? And if it does…will she want it back?

A great new character from Kinsella!!

Sophie Kinsella is the Queen of Chic Lit!!! After the Shopaholic series I was curious to see what she would come up next - and with The Undomestic Goddess...she did not dissapointed!!
This is funny, entertaining read in similar style to the Shopaholic novels. This time the title character is Samantha Sweeting....a young twenty something climbing her way up the corporate law ladder - on her way to becoming a partner!
Her life revolves around the job, to the detriment of her life, her relationships and her home!! She is tired, never sees here friends and does not even get to celebrate her birthday -which is okay by her family as they are too busy in the corporate world too!! BUT!! This all comes crashing down due to a 'mistake' which she is too tired at first, to realize was not exactly her doing!! Rather than face the music she escapes....to a simple life where she gains employment as a maid!
Not only is this transition huge, but made worse by the fact that Samantha is no 'domestic goddess' - she cannot cook, clean , do laundry...yet has to pretend to accomplish her maid tasks!! This is does with humor, witt and clever writing!!
The book has something for everyone, including the true message that we all need to slow down a little and see what life really has to offer!!
A great read that I really could not out down!! I eagerly await the new novel by Ms. Kinsella!!!
