Sophie Kinsella is the Queen of Chic Lit!!! After the Shopaholic series I was curious to see what she would come up next - and with The Undomestic Goddess...she did not dissapointed!!
This is funny, entertaining read in similar style to the Shopaholic novels. This time the title character is Samantha Sweeting....a young twenty something climbing her way up the corporate law ladder - on her way to becoming a partner!
Her life revolves around the job, to the detriment of her life, her relationships and her home!! She is tired, never sees here friends and does not even get to celebrate her birthday -which is okay by her family as they are too busy in the corporate world too!! BUT!! This all comes crashing down due to a 'mistake' which she is too tired at first, to realize was not exactly her doing!! Rather than face the music she escapes....to a simple life where she gains employment as a maid!
Not only is this transition huge, but made worse by the fact that Samantha is no 'domestic goddess' - she cannot cook, clean , do laundry...yet has to pretend to accomplish her maid tasks!! This is does with humor, witt and clever writing!!
The book has something for everyone, including the true message that we all need to slow down a little and see what life really has to offer!!
A great read that I really could not out down!! I eagerly await the new novel by Ms. Kinsella!!!
