As much as I think that Roger Waters is an egotistical liberal idiot, I must admit,
he steals the show on this album.
Grantchester Meadows Ranks as one of my favorite Floyd tunes.
Several Species...is really one of the most unique recordings of all time of all genres and all forms of Art.
Now I'm clean and sober for 12 years and I still listen to Pink Floyd. I think why? I don't get high or even drink. Art is Art. The Floyd worked hard on their craft as proved by their continued success, even though the haven't released any new Floyd in 14 years. The live stuff on disc one is quite good as well, but, to me if you want to get the full effect you need the Live at Pompei Video. I'm waiting to receive the Director's cut DVD. One final note, If you live the Dark Side of the Moon you need to hear the roots of that album. Most of the Brit's copied the Beatles in some way and then moved on to a more original style. The Floyd go to the Fab Four's medicine chest and add blues and blues and blues and blues and blues.......

Ummagumma is Pink Floyd's wonderful barely accessible 2 CD set (Disk 2 is a collection of live songs) guaranteed to drive your friends insane. As a collector of strange and unusual recordings I hold Ummagumma in high esteem and recommend it to anyone who loves the more avant garde side of Floyd. 5 Stars.

This is an excellent classic cd. I bought the album when I was a young pup. It is still great! I actually like this better than Dark Side of the Moon. But that's me.

For any pink floyd fan this is the best ablum, pre-dark side of the moon. To me this is the best of the floyd boys bar none. For those new listeners give this a go you will not be disappointed. I have seen Pink Floyd several times including once with sid barret, and this is for me the best of the band. Again new listeners give this and the older albums a try you will not be let down

Dave

This album is a favorite of hard-core Pink Floyd fans and not one to be left out of your collection, I am not going to lie to you but you really have to be a hard core fan of Syd Barrett and understand his love of the total package that was named after Pink Anderson and Floyd Council!
Love you all, Atomheartretta!

I think for many people, early Pink Floyd is an acquired taste. That being said this album is very typical of Pink Floyd of the time period. Lots of experimentation and psychadelic sounds. Personally, I am an extremely avid fan of the group and enjoy every album they ever put out including this one.

Well, it finally arrived today , not that it took long mind you , but I love recieveing mail ! in the mail. So far it looks unscratched, we will seee once I have played it . I was always curious about this album , having never heard it knowingly before. I had thought it might be a MINI DISC the way it was worded but a double cd is fine too.

  Good Album (in depth review)

Ummagumma, known to Pink Floyd and their fans as 'the mistake album'.

This is largely due to the fact that the studio material is largely based on synthesizers, which I have no problem with.

Despite containing studio material, this 2 disc original set contains a masterpiece 4 track cd, which is a compilation of several exceptional performances.

The tracks to said live cd are:

Astronomy Domine (By far the best on the cd, it contains a musical concerto near the 5 minute mark, then seamlessly glides back into the original song heard on Piper at The Gates of Dawn)

Careful With That Axe, Eugene (Perhaps the simplest song on the cd, quiet playing, whispering, scream, loud playing. Not much more than that)

Set The Controls for the Heart of The Sun (a 9 minute epic not to be harmed with, this not only contains the original Set the Controls theme (on Saucerful of Secrets(album)) but contains some of the freak out material found on Saucerful of Secrets (song below)

Saucerful of Secrets (you thought the album version was bad oh-ho... This is much crazier yet carries an 'epicness' unsurpassed by any other version of the song)

Now, the Studio has much more songs (12 to be exact) and I cannot fit a review of them all into a single review, so i will rate it 1,2,3,4, or 5 stars

Sysyphus (part 1) (4 stars)
Sysyphus (part 2) (3 stars)
Sysyphus (part 3) (1 star)
Grantchester Meadows (4 stars)
SSOSFAGTIACAGWAP (2 stars)
The Narrow Way (part 1) (3 stars)
The Narrow Way (Part 2) (3 stars)
The Narrow Way (Part 3) (4 stars)
Grand Visiers Garden Party: Part 1 (4 stars)
Grand Visiers Garden Party: Part 2 (4 stars)
Grand Visiers Garden Party: Part 3 (4 stars)

Unfortunetally thats all the time I have with you people reading this, farewell!
