Ultraman - Series 1: Vol. 2 (DVD, 2006, 3-Disc Set)

Ah! This takes me back! Ultraman definitatly helped shape me while I was growing up. Sure the monsters are guys in rubber suits with visible zippers, but we knew what we were watching- and it still holds up today- I recently turned my 7 yr old son onto Heyatta, Fuji, Ito, Herashi, and Captian Mura, and he can't get enough either. Unfortunately there are parts of the DVD that skip back into Japanese with English subtitles, then goes back to english soon after. But so what!? These are 41 years old! But they are timeless in content!

Nothing better than a clear visual of foggy childhood past. For year afflicted with bad VHS copies, I refused to watch, now this is the closest thing to my memories, plus it has cut into it the original Japanese scenes deleted for American TV, you will know when the Audio is in Japanese and the subititles come up, it's like a built in secret scene you never kewn was there, so it freshens this old mans experience. Plus, its super-kid-friendly, coming out in 1966-67, nothing fo rme to worry about with my 3 year old daughter watching, she loves it, we have to sit down and watch 3 episodes a night, and with a quick episode running time, your not worn out in the end or bored. Get it, it's 99.9% better than any kids show today.

For a coupple of years in the 60's this is what every kid want it to see on tv. With a regular stedy fast of monsters every week the rubber suits was just the start of some imagination. What would Ultraman do next? Of course save the world from all monsters you could throw at him. Even that weird monster that was home sick.

This is simple Wamm! Bang! A little bit of Japanese martial cheap arts mix with special effects. Throw a monster here and there. And that is the story of Ultraman.

I love the scary monsters and the action. This series was one of my favorites as a child, and I love it still as an adult. It's a show that anyone with a sense of humor and a love of Godzilla-type monsters should enjoy.

Oh my gosh!!! This takes me back to my youth. One day, Ultraman will be considered a cult classic. There will be Ultraman parties. Not sure about Ultraman conventions. These are the television shows from the mid-1960's and they look it. The show was created by the same man who worked on the special effects on the original Godzilla movie from 1954 with Raymond Burr. The monsters in these shows are so lame its what makes these shows so great - the saying its so bad its good definitely applies here. And the story line are predictable and lame as well. They usually go - alien monster crash lands on Earth starts to destroy everything, Space Patrol members that are suppose to have the latest weaponry to protect mankind can't do a thing to stop them, member os Space Patrol team transforms into Ultraman and saves the day. The only thing that changes from show to show are the monsters which are so clearly actors in costumes that that just adds to the campiness. If you enjoy It Is So Bad It Is Good entertainment this is a MUST have.

I had purchased this item to add to my collection it arrived in a timely manner in new condition. I would purchase items of interest in the future as I see products I want. Until then thank you for my product. It has a note of being in my childhood memories, that are few and far between.

Rare! that does now describe this dvd set the last 19 episodes full uncut not copies the originals unseen for more than just a long time not easily obtained in the US

ULTRAMAN BRINGS BACK MEMORIES FROM WHEN I WAS A KID. I FIRST SAW THE ORIGINAL WHEN I WAS SEVEN AND WAS AWED BY IT AND MY KIDS WATCH IT TODAY. THEY THINK IT IS CORNY BUT FUN TO WATCH. I DEFINITELY SUGGEST YOU BUY THE ORIGINALS AND NOT THE REMAKES.

I loved ultraman when I was kid. Some of my go workers and I were talking about it at work. That night I came home and found it here on e-bay. As soon as it started playing I remembered the words to the title song.
It was great to see Ultraman back in action and a good walk down memory lane for me. Although, my kids did'nt think it was cool. LOL!

If you own Ultraman -Series 1: Vol.1, then this is a MUST HAVE, to complete your collection. By watching ALL of the Ultraman shows as released in the USA,
you can see the progression of the special effects and story line from show to show.
This is a great way to see the good shows of yesteryear.

When I first recieved the package in the mail. It was like christmas,I ripped the box open and pop the dvd in the dvd player. The intro song brought back childhood memories of me running home from school to watch the show.I also remember the picture coming in fuzzy and moving the rabbit ear antennas.

The picture quality is amazing for the show being 40 years old. The sound
could have been better. I wish it had Dolby Sound and not just stereo.If you are a fan you can't go wrong with this dvd set.
