The Ultimate Southern Living Cookbook (1999, Hardcover, Illustrated)

This is an excellent cookbook because it provides a variety of recipes for either the amateur cook or more advanced. I also got the best deal I could have ever gotten by purchasing this book from Ebay. This is a $30 cookbook, and I got it for $8.99. You can't beat that! I highly recommend it whether you are just starting out or whether you've been cooking for years! Enjoy!

I purchased this cookbook after borrowing it from my sister. The recipes are delicious, straight forward and vary from simple to complex. I really enjoy all the helpful tips it gives; for the novice cook, the explanations give a better chance to the outcome of the dish. It also has a good emergency substitution section. A well rounded cookbook.

It was to replace my beloved third edition that had suffered through so many years of use and finally abuse - my faucet exploded and soaked it! So glad I found the fifth edition on e=bay and used the most excellent seller available by luck! This cookbook is my basis for my other cookbooks - I go here first.

Great recipes included in this book. There are many beautiful, accurate pictures included. I also like how they give "how tos" for many techniques and processes. A must have for the family who eats in.

We've had this cookbook for some time and think that it is the best all around cookbook in the world. We have never had a bad recipe from this book. We bought this one as a gift for my brother-in-law who has just started to cook.

This is one of the many cookbooks published by Southern Living that contain solid recipes that are kitchen-tested and cover a wide range of food categories. Southern Living cookbooks are great to have on hand when you need to find an appetizer last-minue or to come up with a use for all of those tomatoes that your friend dropped off. These are dependable cookbooks with timeless recipes.

I teach culinary arts. I use this along with other texts to demonstrate how 'real cooks' at home prepare a meal. The book is chocked full of hints, history and information and almost reads like a novel. Of course, Southern Living is an absolute star when it comes to photography. The pictured food looks lip-smackin' good. Check out the recipe for the Hummingbird Cake, a Southern classic and the most requested recipe in all of Southern Living publications.

I bought this book for my daughter-in-law for Christmas. I already had the book and it is one of my very favorites. When I contacted the publisher, the book was no longer available so I ordered it off of Ebay. Although the book was used, it was in excellent condition. It seemed like it was new. I received it very quickly even though it was during the holidays. I was very pleased with the item and with the seller.

I wanted to buy this book since years ago when it was published, but unfortunely I could not remember the title..it was a casualty finding it in ebay. The best part of this book is that the recipes are the original recipes without modifications, alterations or aditions. Also many of the recipes in this book are very popular and many of them are difficult to find. I like it a lot. And I'm sure my family is going to enjoy it too!

I love all the SL Cookbooks, but this is one of the best. Not only does it have great recipes,but it has excellent reference charts, and great basic info. I bought one for each of my soon to be married daughters. It makes a great gift for new and seasoned cooks.

When the book I ordered arrived it was exactly as described and advertised. I was pleased with the service, I felt the shipping was a little slow but I ordered it around the holiday season so that may have had something to do with it. I would recomend this buyer to someone else.

I love this cookbook so much. I have recently purchased an extra copy for my dad, because he kept asking me to send copies of the recipes that I was making. I have not made a recipe that I didn't like out of this book.

This is a great cookbook. It has alot of delicious old fashioned recipes that everyone will love. I also like the area of substitutions where it tells you what to use in place of an ingredient you may not have on hand.

I bought & paid for this cookbook on 3-23-07 and have not recieved it yet, I sent a e-mail about 2 weeks ago and they said they lost my address, I sent it and stil have not recieved my book. I reckon if you fool with something long enough this will happen. This is the first time it has happened and I hope it's the last.
