This game reminds me of my childhood. What isn't to love about this fighting game? It's a classic all around! You don't have to unlock any players.. you get them all right away... it's a blast to play!

Mortal Kombat 3 Ultimate is the best Mortal Kombat game for the SNES. It has alot more characters in it then its prodecessor. I must say that this game brings me so many memories as a child. Great game indeed!

Some of the good things about this game include the very useful "run" or "sprint" ability, which lets you charge your opponent, combos which you pretty much have to figure out by button-mashing, multi-layered levels which you can uppercut through to the higher level, an enormous cast of characters, including several hidden characters, and a wide variety of skill levels and combat paths for single player.
However, the game is incredibly hard to master if you've never played any Mortal Kombat games before, especially regular Mortal Kombat 3. This game will take days, even weeks of practice and frustrating defeats to be able to cruise through the game easily to defeat the final boss [Shao Kahn, mini-bossed by Motaro].
This game is a must-have for collectors and Mortal Kombat fans, but I wouldn't recommend it for children and people with self esteem issues.

I love the game. It plays very well like if it was brand new. I wish that the game came with a book.

This is the ULTIMATE figting game. UMK3 delivered. Better graphics, new characters and so much more. The Mercy, Animality, Brutality, Babality, and of course, Fatality are all here. You can now combo moves to each other doing massive damage. The Fatalaties look so much better then MKII as well. Sheeva, Cyrax, (playable) Smoke and Jade, Sektor, Kabal, and Ermac are some newcomers to the series and live up to their performance well. Be aware this game is more diffecult (even on Novice) then the original MK3. Especially the Endurance Matches and Motaro. You should get this game on Xbox Live Arcade if you don't have an SNES or are out of quarters.

  Mortal Kombat 3 improved!
Review created: 08/03/06(updated 08/03/06)

This is more like a 2.0 version of Mortal Kombat 3, new stages, new characters, new fatalities and the new brutalities for some fighters makes this a really nice Mortal Kombat, the new 8-man tournament mode and 2 on 2 Endurance are also very good, but there's a flaw and it's the fact that they took off animalities, I just loved animalities, I really like brutalities but animalities were so cool that I miss it very much, except that, if you liked Mortal Kombat 3, you'll sure like this one!

  Best cartrage fighting game ever

Back in the day when this came out, not everyone had a 64 yet, I know i didn't, and whenMortal Kombat Trilogy came out, SNES owners needed there own treat. Ultimate mortal kombat 3 really was the Ultimate fighting game of it's time. the sheer number of characters made the gamepl;ay more fun tyhan any previous MK title. The difficulty was up there with the arcade but a slew of codes and special modes opened the game up wide for anyone. The multi-player function was way beyond MK3 which looks like MK2 by comparison.

The only thing i really missed in this game was Shiva, though she does show up as a secret character without a sprite (invisible). The bringing back of so many old characters which used similar sprites to each other to really pump the number of fighters was brilliant. The moves and coulours and character bios set them all apart quite sufficiently even though the robots looked identicle, as did the ninjas, but it really did add to the gameplay. Some of the characters introduced in this game are among my favourites and still apear in Mortal kombat games. After this game and MK Trilogy MK went adventure/action, and then 3-D with MK4 and up. UMK3 really was the pinicle of MK 2-D games. Trilogy was just a bonus

I love this game. The only thing I don't like is that there are glitches every once in a while. That, and there are a few characters, like ermac, rain, and noob saibot, that don't that can't do either fatalities or friendships, if not both. I guess I would just have to play MK Trilogy for that though. Besides that, like I said, I love this game.

the game is great, but something funny, when you stay at an average distance, you move forward and back, the opponent will do the same without attacking you, even during the whole game hehe.

  Hardly 'Ultimate'
Review created: 10/15/04
by: flash-hammer -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Scorpion and Reptile are back!

Cons:
Very little has changed, for almost every addition something has been removed

I remember being over the moon about Mortal Kombat 3 upon it's release, but after a few weeks it's appeal had faded, in part due to the absence of my favourite characters Scorpion and Johhny Cage, in part due to the fact it generally wasn't as good as it's predecessor. I remember Ultimate MK3 launched with no hype, and I wasn't even aware it existed until I saw it in a shop one day, not too long after my birthday (or Christmas, one of these times when kids have money), and had to get my mum to take it to the till, because it was clearly rated 15 on the front (I think this was the first game...
