Ultimate Avengers: The Movie (DVD, 2006)

I thought this movie was good and Should have been great. The animation and production value was fantastic. The art and music, with voice over and story quality were well worth it, and could have put this in a theatrical release. The story itself is mt regret. I am not into the whole "Ultimate" comic book line. It sells well so people do like it, but not me. I am a bit older and more interested in the original storyline of these characters. The original avengers were great with the original versions of the Hulk and Thor. The original hulk is a favorite of mine and I miss it. Anyway if you do like the rewrite, or re-imagining, whatever, this would be perfect for you.

Watching the Hulk/Thor battle is the high point of this movie and it is really worth seeing the whole thing just to catch it. Mixed throughout are some other very cool moments, but for the most part it is just bad voice acting and a plot that was cut into ribbons. Almost everything that made The Ultimates great was pretty much left out of the movie. Do yourself a favor and stick to the comics with it's exceptional art and gripping storyline.

In truth i did not expect alot with this DVD, but as a die hard Marvel Zombie i had to pick it up. I must say i was 100% wrong on this one.

Ultimate Avengers is based on the Marvel Comics Series "The Ultimates". Written by Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch. It is based on the creations of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The dvd release for the most part stays true to the Comic series. The biggest differance is the mature themes being toned down from Its comic counterpart. An Example being the domestic violence of Henry Pym towards the Wasp.

The DVD contains numerous extra features, including interviews with the comic book creators of the Ultimate Avengers comic book, exploration of the creation of the animated film, a video game and previews for the future film.

Well I had the movie before and it was stolen in 2008. I have almost all of the marvel animation. It is well drawn out and I love the plot in all of the movies. I look for more to come out from them in the near future.

I was worried about the aspect of a cartoon feature film based on, “The Ultimates.” The comic is violent, touches on difficult issues, and over the top in many areas. No matter where you stand on the issue of having all the top talent pumped into “remakes” of our favorite comics, “The Ultimates,” is still a very well told story with tons of great action.

On first glance, the first thing that struck me was the rating. With a PG-13 you can bet this won’t be your average Saturday morning cartoon. Luckily, it isn’t.

The quality of the art is good, on par with many of the other cartoons out there. It isn’t amazing in the sense that some anime has become known for, but it is pretty good.

Storywise, the Ultimate Avengers DVD is not on par with the comic book it is based on. The Ultimate Avengers DVD is more of a boiled down version of, “The Ultimates,” leaving out such characters as Hawkeye, Quicksilver, and the Scarlet Witch as well as some of the main story elements. The biggest thing lacking for me was the pace of the movie. I thought it had a slow start, but in the end it had a great finale with the big battle between The Avengers, the aliens, and The Incredible Hulk.

I grew up reading Jack Kirby's "Avengers" and I must say that I just loved this animated DVD. Why? For one thing is the glorious return of Captain America as told in the Avengers # 4 comic book. His flashbacks to World War Two are great!
Next. The Black Widow is very true to form and I just love Iron Man.
I realize that the modern version of the Avengers is what the writers had in mind and I was even ok with Nick Fury being African American. He still has the eye patch though.
This Dvd is non stop action and soon you will stop seeing this as an animated cartoon an start becoming deeply involved first with the characters personalities and then with the plot. You can watch this a few times and not get bored.
Get the sequel!!!!

My son loves this movie. We have another copy of it, but he ruined the box and the cover to the case. I am the type of person that likes DVD's in their original packaging, so I had to purchase another one.

Absolutely enthralling!!!! I love this movie..i've seen it half a dozen times and it's just as entertaining as the first time i saw it. I love the storyline, i love the characters, i love the animation (i'm a dc fan too but i hate that all their animation has every superhero with the same shape..a big barrel chest for the guys with a square jaw and a hourglass for the girls with a pointy chin), the only thing i didn't like was the length. i wish this had been longer because as soon as you get started the movie's over, but you get a lotta bang for your buck!!!! if you liked this i highly recommend ultimate avengers 2, and doctor strange..iron man had great animation but the storyline was just ok....

I quickly bought this DVD after seeing The Invincible Iron Man. I found out that all these new Marvel Comics Animated Movies are of the highest quality with excellent voice acting & animation. They made sure to show the heroes doing things that would be too expensive to do live action. This film will leave you eager for more. Luckily Ultimate Avengers II is already out on DVD.

Movie is about 99% accurate to comic book This is what made it a good movie. If you didn't like ultimate avengers comic you probably won't like this movie. However it is a kid friendly film if you were buying it for that reason.

I have long been a big time fan of Marvel Comics. I used to collect the trading cards and comic books as a kid and an still excited by the thought. The real movies these days suck because they deviate from the true stories of how things happened and cast awful people to play roles. This cartoon, however, can stick to the truth and is very entertaining to watch.

I actually saw Ultimate Avengers 2 first at the Comicon in SanDiego. After that I HAD to get the first one, and at the time the only place I could find it was on Ebay. Granted, the 2nd movie is a little better, but the first sets the stage. They did a fantastic job representing the marvel feel and action, and stayed true to the character lore. I even like the older style animation (not slick computer-enhanced or rendered) because it actually compliments the comic media rather well. Great humor, incredible action, dynamic sound track; the opening war scene is incredible! Overall high production quality and surprisiingly well done. I'd say the only thing I didn't like so well about it is that it's only 71 minutes long instead of 120. Alex Bullock

First and foremost, people have to remember this is ULTIMATE Avengers....so what does that mean? It means it's based on the newer version of the Marvel characters. Now you're asking, so what does that mean? It means that the newer versions are slightly different from the originals in various ways. The most noticeable differences might be costumes, but THE most noticeable difference is the fact that Nick Fury is black. Some people seem to strike a negative to this movie based on that fact and that's just wrong. This movie is good for various reasons, such as the animation. It's a very well drawn feature length movie and it's definitely not a child's movie either. There is some violence involved, so it does appeal to the older fans of Marvel. I find that this movie tends to circulate around Captain America more than it does the entire team. There are times when the attention is focused on the fact that the team has problems coexisting due to differences in personalities, but all-in-all, I feel this was a platform for Captain America. Although Captain America seems to be the center of the storyline, this is still a great movie and has a lot of action. The fight scenes with the Hulk are excellent too. I think this Marvel animated feature is setting the bar for a new series in the Marvel universe. If they continue to release different characters and different stories following the same model they used with the Avengers, they will find success. Anyone - whether a long time fan or a new comer - will enjoy this film.

Loved the Steve Rogers/Captain America beginning. I am an Avengers fanatic, although unfamiliar with the Ultimates series. This was a good blend of the original Avengers from the 1960's, and I hope this only leads to more movies from this genre. I liked the original ex-WWII Nick Fury better than the one featured in this movie, though. The original was crass but real, upholding his beliefs in patriotism as a soldier from his war experiences. This Nick Fury is too much of a government agent, although not unlikeable.

THE ONLY FLAW I THINK I SEE IS THAT I WISH THE MOVIE WAS A BIT LONGER. ASIDE FROM THAT; THIS MOVIE SERVES AS A GREAT FOLLOW UP OF THE SECOND MOVIE THAT HITS STORE SHELVES THIS SUMMER. JUST CAN'T WAIT FOR THE PREQUEL.

I like this movie because I like the super heroes that are in it. I decided to buy the movie because it was real cheap.

Marvel did an incredible job with this being the first of I hope many Avengers animated movie. The story and animation are great.
I decided to by this movie becuase I grew up reading comic books and once I saw that they finally made a quality animation movie of the greatest team of heros, well I just had to purchase it. Also my son is 5 years old and loves anything that has to do with super heros.
