Album Notes Recording information: 1921 - 1929. Some pop standards are so standard as to be genetically encoded in human DNA, and it turns out that Vaughn De Leath (nee Leonore Vonderleath) is the original songbird who made many of them popular in the early part of the 20th century. One of the first radio singing stars, De Leath offered the first versions of "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" "Button Up your Overcoat," "I Wanna Be Loved By You," "I'm Just Wild about Harry," and many other songbook favorites. This collection gathers an astounding number of her hits and serves as a great gift to a new generation of fans who appreciate bouncy tunes, tight lyrical conceits, and adorable Betty Boop singing.
