U2 - Rattle and Hum (HD DVD, 2006)

The interviews are candid. The music is priceless. The band is U2 before they were the megaband they are today.

The video is good quality, well edited and the sound mixing is done well, especially considering the fact that music is intertwined with voice throughout.

The albums covered on this are, of course, the resulting "Rattle and Hum", "The Joshua Tree", and all of their previous work.

You can see what existed in Bono, the humanitarian, before he was nominated for a Nobel Prize for his work in charity and relief work around the world.

The video shows the 4 guys, Bono (aka Paul Hewson), the Edge (aka Dave Evans), Adam Clayton and Larry Mullin Jr. being four guys from Ireland on a tour of the U.S. The coolest thing about this video is how it shows U2's discovery of American music; specifically the blues and jazz.

Best song on the video is by far "When love comes to town" with THE B.B. King.

The entire video is fantastic and I have watched it literally hundreds of times.

The DVD will not play in my DVD player nor my computer. Visually you can see the burning has a rainbow look to it.

It will cost me more to return it then to accept the loss

FOR ME THIS DVD BRIDGED THE GAP BETWEEN JUST SORT OF LIKING U2 (UNHEARD OF SINCE I'M IRISH)AND BEING VERY ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT U2. I FIRST SAW ABOUT 20 MINUTES OF THIS DVD AT A FRIENDS HOUSE...IT WAS THE RIGHT 20 MINUTES...THE GREAT B.B. KING WAS PERFORMING IN THIS SEGMENT AND REALLY CAUGHT MY ATTENTION.
I PURCHASED MY COPY THE NEXT DAY AND WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. THE PERFORMANCES ARE FULL OF FEELING AND LIFE...MANY SONGS ARE PERFORMED FOR THIER MESSAGE, ALBEIT SOME POLITICAL, AND SOME ARE JUST FUN! THE SINCERE INTEREST OF THE BAND AS THEY TOUR AROUND AMERICA LEARNING ABOUT OUR MUSICAL HISTORY AND OF WE AS A PEOPLE IS INSIGHTFUL AND VERY PERSONAL AT TIMES...ESPECIALLY THE TRIP TO GRACELAND. THIS DVD IS ONE OF MY TOP MUSICAL RECOMMENDATIONS, U2 IS IN TOP FORM WITH GREAT MUSIC AND WONDERFUL GUEST PERFORMANCES...IT'S HARD NOT TO LIKE A GROUP OF GUYS WHO ARE FANS OF ELVIS, B.B. KING, THE BLUES, AND HARLEY DAVIDSON!!

I like this dvd because it captures the band at a great time in their career, not the newest dvd but highly recommend for archive material.

This DVD is a great sampler of early U2 recordings and success. I especially enjoyed Van Dieman's Land near the beginning of the DVD. It is sung solo by The Edge. I was very impressed with his vocals.

U2 at their artistic zenith, in high definition and Dolby digital surround. Awesome.

The H-D version of Rattle & Hum proves that things DO improve with age! After 20 years, the music still rings true and the H-D Video makes this one Disc worth watching, as you emerse yourself in great music performances! In 1987 I attended the concerts contained in the Color-portion of this presentation, met the band & was allowed Backstage to met the Band & all involved. This Disc is another tribute to my College Days, the Ultimate Success of four guy's from Liverpool and the effect they can have on the world! Take the chance, turn up the volume and surround yourself in the experience!

the video quality is not that great but the rest is excelent i have it on laser disc and wanted to compare the 2 media

This is actually one of the best concert DVD's that I've bought.One of the best DVD's U2 has released.The film is as beautiful to watch as it is to listen to. I couldn't ask for more.

5.1 surround is great, picture is in black and white, cool but a waste of HD/DVD, bought it to test my player

Sound is very good, but the HD format is a little grainy, maybe because the footage is about 2o years old, but the music is still the best.

U2 is one of my favorite groups. That's why I purchased this DVD. I like this DVD a lot and I recommend it to all U2 fans. Quality of this HD DVD is very good.

If you are looking for a great audio experience..... this is what you are looking for. U2 is one of the best of all time, and it is mastered in lossles audio and incredible 1080p picture restored from the past! enjoy!
