Publisher's Note
The first book on twins by medical professionals, this singular resource gives parents the vital information they need to face the challenges of having twins, from the earliest stages of multiple birth pregnancy to delivery and through the first year of their newborn's life.

The likelihood of giving birth to twins has shot up from one-in-90 to one-in-40 in recent years, thanks to escalating use of fertility treatments and the advancing age of first-time mothers. This singular resource gives parents the vital information they need to face the challenges of having twins, from the earliest stages of multiple birth pregnancy to delivery and through the first year of their newborns' life.

Industry Reviews
In the United States, twin births have increased by 42 percent since 1980, spurred by the increasing use of fertility treatments and the advancing age of many mothers. Agnew, a perinatologist and leading specialist in the delivery of high-risk infants, and Klein, a specialist in high-risk infant care, have written one of the first books on twins by medical professionals. In conversational style, the authors cover comprehensively pregnancy, birth, the postpartum experience, and the first year of life. Interviews with parents of twins lend a fascinating insight to the topics discussed. Also particularly helpful are the detailed descriptions of the type of medical care necessary during pregnancy and the babies' first year and the resource guide at the back of the book. This excellent resource is recommended for all collections. Stacey Hathaway, Fordham Health Sciences Lib., Wright State Univ., Dayton

Twins! Pregnancy, Birth and the First Year of Life

Out of all the books that I have purchased, Twins! has by far proven to be the best.

I've been pregnant before, as a mother of 5 children. But, being pregnant with twins put me into a new unknown territory. I had more questions - about the different symptoms, why I was showing so soon, what should I watch out for, how much I should eat, and most importantly - Why is this pregnancy so very different from the rest?!

I bought this book, after finding out that this pregnancy is a twin pregnancy. If I read the book before going to the doctor - I would have demanded an ultrasound! Everything made sense, page after page.

This book answered all my questions. And month-to-month, as new questions came - it was amazing how the book knew what my next questions were. Every chapter, I was saying "yes, yes!" It even helped me gear for my next doctor appointments, and what concerns I should bring to the doctor's attention. It has me knowledge-ready not only for my pregnancy, but for their birth and a glimpse of what to expect later on.

This book is not just any pregnancy book. It concentrates fully on multiple pregnancies. I always recommend this book to people, anyone who even thinks that they might be pregnant with multiples. I've read other books, who either lightly focused on twin pregnancies, or didn't have the information that I was looking for. Those books were not picked up again.

Twins! - I am NOT going to give this book up until my twins are at least a year old!

And the best thing is - instead of paying full price for it at the retail store, I bought it on Ebay. And with the extra money that I saved - I bought a pair of twin outfits for my twins! (On ebay, of course!)
