AWESOME HOW TO BOOK, easy and enjoyable craft.

With this book, and one two hour "lesson" with a local gal who learned from it, I was able to make lovely rugs, placemats, runners and more. Have bought several more for other friends and passed on an old tradition to a new generation. Bobbie shows you how you can use old sheets, jeans, clothing, or just about any fabric into an easy care, heirloom rug. Read this, and you will be scouring thrift shops and garage sales for fabrics. You'll get hooked on this easy to do and very "shabby chic" craft. Looking forward to another book by this author. She shows you others handiwork, gives you some history, and lets you create your own style. These rugs are super hardwearing, very charming for country style homes, and wash up just great. Start making your rags into rugs everyone will want!

  Twined Rag Rugs
Review created: 04/09/07

I bought this book because there was a display at the local yarn shop with a loom and the beautiful rugs they were making there. My husband made the loom for me but there was no information at the library or even on the internet on how to make twined rag rugs. I did however find this book on the internet to "fill in the gaps" of the knowledge I had picked up at the yarn shop. I looked on ebay and was pleasantly surprised to find a copy up for auction. The book has an excellent history of the craft in the U.S. and has diagrams and instructions that were very helpful. There is a section that interviews people that are carrying on this relatively little known craft. Many interesting color pictures of finished rugs are included. Very interesting!
