Twilight by Stephenie Meyer (2005, Hardcover)

Short and sweet: A great read for vampire aficionados, regardless of its classification as a romance novel. I wouldn't have read it if I was told or knew up front that it was considered a romance novel primarily rather than vampire/fantasy, and I would've missed out.

It's not at all what the typical male would expect at the phrase "romance novel", and it's an extremely compelling story. It is obviously about the unexpected love between a vampire and a human, and it does dwell on its aspects overmuch from a male perspective, but all things being equal, it still holds its own as a very good vampire/fantasy novel with everything you'd expect of that genre as well.

And by the way... the movie isn't half as good as the book (isn't that always the way?).

Have read this book twice already! Also have read the other 3 books in the series twice. Have hooked 8 other people on the Twilight series! Fast easy read.... Catches you in the first pages. You just can't put these books down once you start reading them. You feel like the characters are your friends. You miss them when you are done with the books. My daughter(27) who does not read has read 3 of the 4 books in the series and has started the 4th Breaking Dawn.

Twilight is like Anne Rice's version of Romeo and Juilet yet with a little more humor. I loved this book, it was thought out and well written. I wish though Bella would not whorship Edward so much, their story is romantic yet builds and builds to Bellas character being shown as self sacrificing without the same from Edward. Other than that, what a wonderful, delicious book.

I was pleasantly surprised to find myself sucked into this tale of 'good' vampires. I heard the movie was coming out and I wanted to read the book before seeing the movie. I understood this series was actually geared towards young adults. I can tell you, as a senior citizen, that this series will appeal to ALL age groups. Character development was excellent. I so much liked this series that I had to rush out and buy 'Host', another book by Stephenie Meyer. I recommend that book as well.

I loved this book. It was very interesting and kept me interested throughout the entire book. It was hard to guess the ending, which is a surprise because you usually can guess an ending to a book. It was a great book overall. I bought the book because everybody was talking about how good the books were and how great the movie was, so I wanted to try it out for myself. I was impressed.

Teens have so few age-appropriate books that capture and keep their interest. The relationship between Bella and Edward and Bella's own insecurities touch a chord with this audience. Very interesting twist on a topic I would have thought was done and overdone already, but it works! My non-reading children read the entire series in record time and have actually started reading other books and have turned off the tv!

I love the books. They are very detailed. A very easy read. You will never want to put the books down.

I bought the Twilight first book last week, and cannot put it down until I am done in less than 2 days. It's a romance. Sure, it's about vampires, but the vampire's facts are more like the "spice" of the romance. It was written from a teenage girl point of view who guzzling about the dazzlingly handsome, super humanly strong, unpredictably moody vampire. Every other page you'll find her faint at the sight of him, get dizzy by his dazzling eyes, and almost suffer from heart attack by his kiss. But I think that what made young girls (or the not so young - me ) crazy about this book. Everyone of us at least once had a dream of prince charming, that so handsome you forgot to breath at the sight of him - like Bella -, who always be there when you are in trouble, who is rich he drove the only volvo in town, so mysterious your friends want to drill you about him any time they see you together, who'll take you to dance, and oh.. throw in the facts that he also plays piano and compose a song for you to make a complete picture of Edward Cullen. Very Utopian. Very "in your dream only" material. That is why I said this book will never be another Harry Potter who tell a story of an average boy - who happen to be a wizard. But is it a good reading ? You bet!! I am already bidding for my second and third book (hope I will win) - on continue to dream ...erghh... read about Prince Charming Edward Vampire Cullen

I loved this book!! I read all 4 books!!! I recommend it to everyone who enjoys vampire stories!! It is a sexy and romantic suspense story!!

It's Twilight....it was great & I love the entire series. Saw the movie & loved that too, not as good as the book but still amazing.

This series is excellent. It is very well written. I wouldn't recommend it for children or really young teens. It's written for mature young adults and for adults. I highly recommend it for any adventure readers. It is an awesome series!

Books are in good shape. Jacket covers look brand new! The last one in the series is made by a different publisher so therefore it doesn't match the other three in the set. Not a big deal to me though. Shipping took a while but when I finally got them I was happy with the product.

I order this book for my daughter after several of her friends from school had told her about it. When she heard it was being made into a movie she was bagging for it. Since she understands Mom's rules are you have to read the book before you can see the movie. I was unsure of the purchase but when the book arrived I read it in one night. Great story line. Keeps you wanting to see what happens next. A story that both young and old can share. Cannot wait to take my daughters to the movie. A love story that makes you route for the normally expected bad guys. Vampires who still hold onto some human qualities. You start this book and do not want to put it down. My teenages loved this were asking for the next in the series before they were half way through the first. We would recommend this book to anyone who wants a love story, but does not want the same old boy meets girl plot. The book focused on Bella and Edward in great detail. I would of liked to of had more details about Edward's other family members. This book touched on thier relationships, I am hoping the remaining books show us more into thier past.
I recommend ordering this series for any teenage girl on your Christmas list this year.

I have only the highest praise for the Twilight Saga series. Stephenie Meyer is a genius! I was literally sitting on the edge of my seat many times while reading. I finished all 4 books in 8 days AND I work full time, have 2 children, husband, homework to do and a house to clean (just to name a few things). Still, I was mesmerized and I am not a big reader! I read these books because of an article in a magazine saying Meyer is like Harry Potter author. I ordered them off ebay the next day, got them in 2 days and the rest is history. ALL 5 STARS from this fan!

I really got into this book, I just couldn't put it down. Im dieing for the next book to get here so I can find out what happens next.

I BOUGHT THIS BOOK NOT REALIZING THAT IT WAS GEARED TOWARD TEENS, BUT FOUND THAT I THOUROUGHLY ENJOYED IT DESPITE THAT FACT. I WILL BE PASSING THESE ONTO MY 17 YEAR OLD TO ALSO ENJOY. I LOVE THE FACT THAT I CAN PASS A SERIES OF MY BOOKS DOWN TO HER, KNOWING THAT SHE WILL ENJOY THEM. I ALSO LOVE THE FACT THAT THE ROMANCE IS *CLEAN* INSTEAD OF BEING EXPLICIT. (THESE ARE PASS-DOWN-ABLE TO YOUNG FAMILY AND FRIENDS WITHOUT FEAR OF EMBARRASSMENT..LOL) I WILL DEFINETLY CHECK OUT THE REST OF THE SERIES AND ALSO I HEARD THERE IS A MOVIE COMING OUT...CAN'T WAIT....IT WILL BE SOMETHING THAT I CAN ENJOY WITH MY TEEN.

I bought "Twilight" because when the t-shrits came out they sold out in a day and I was wondering what all the hype was about. I knew it was a movie coming out, but I had no idea it was first a series of books. So like always when I am curious I jumped right in.

I bought "Twilight" and less than 30 hours later (I did have to work LOL) I had finished. The entire time my nose was pressed into the book I had a smile on my face and sometimes I laughed out loud at the romantic tension and casual bantering between the main characters Edward Cullen (a "vegitarian" vampire) and Bella Swan (a girl wise beyond her years who takes care of her father). Although the books are geared to a younger "high school" audience the romance between the characters is all VERY clean. When she realizes what he and his "family" are, although she doesn't fear him in the least, her life is suddenly in danger from a pack of nomad vampires.

For parents I'd like to note although it is in its sence a "romance" it is I think, well written and not at all vulgur ("above the neck romance" I heard it described in an article). It is also good to realise that it is books like this series and the Harry Potter series that have gotten teens once again interested in reading which I think makes them noteworthy in themselves.

Many might think this series is just for teens, but they would be wrong. As a "almost 40 yr. old Mom", I love this series. Stephenie Meyer's Edward & Bella are a romantic duo reminiscent of: Romeo/Juliet, Mr. Darcy/Elizabeth, and Harry/Ginny. This is a beautiful story with friendship, romance, danger, sacrifice, and the true meaning of family. I read all 3 books in less than a week!

This is an excellent story for teens and adults. The writing is descriptive and colorful. I will recommend this to my friends and relative. You will definately want to read the sequel New Moon. Stephanie Meyer is an author that we will all hear more about. She is awesome.

This book was absolutely wonderful. Not your average Anne Rice novel, not as graphic or as bloody but still has that thrill your looking for. Bella is new to Forks and after meeting edward she discovers he is a vampire, not accepted by everyone they must fight to keep their love alive. I very much enjoyed this book. I recommend it to everyone

I love the Twilight Series and I now have the complete hard cover set and I have Both Twilight and New Moon Movie Books. I am so glad that I was able to get this book cheap enough that I can continue with other books. The Twilight Saga is a must read for any one who enjoys Romance and/or Vampires.
