  Tweak - An Awesome Book!!!!

I couldn't put the book down!!!

I read the book his father wrote BEUATIFUL BOY first regarding his son's battle with drugs. So I had an idea of what this one would be about. But this first hand account was AMAZING! I like to read a few chapters a night right before bed but I would stay up reading for hours because I just had to see what happened next! The fact that this is a true story scares the crap out of me. I am a mother of 2 very small children and I am dreading the day someone with drugs approaches my child. ESPECIALLY AFTER READING THIS BOOK! I highly recommend this book! You will not be dis-appointed!

Being that I have never experimented with any type of drug, for me it was a glimpse into a world that I never knew existed. Detailing his day to day struggles, all the obstacles he faces on his neverending quest to get high. This is a really good book, and I think it should be a required reading in high schools across America. Maybe if we let our kids read books like this, it will help cut down on teenage drug use. Hollywood tends to glamorize drugs, partying, etc...Nic Sheffs story gives you a very 'in your face' version of what it is really like to tweak.

I enjoyed this book written in journal style by a young man who struggles with addiction only to find out that mental health issues ahave been the root of his
probkem. It reads very fast and the main character, Nic himself is likeable and brutally honest.

Recommend it highly.

First bought it to read this book and a book written concerning the same incidents by his father. Thought it would be interesting, to say the least, to see the diffenent points of view of the son and father. I haven's received the father's book yet.

  tweak, growing up on methamphetamines

Great book. biography written by a meth addict. Nic Sheff did what appears to be an honest and fearless expose into his life in a drug culture gone amok. Gone is the groovy far out super laid back inner circle of the 60s. This is what its like today , and it aint pretty. CAUTION : If your a recovering drug addict parts of this book may be to intense for comfort.

This is a book that I just couldn't put down. I read Beautiful Boy first and just HAD to read Tweak. Nic tells his story honestly and with surprisingly good recall considering all the drugs he was doing. Its amazing this young man is still alive to tell his story. Its a must-read for parents as well as young people. I just pray for continued sobriety for Nic and continued recovery for all of those who love him.

got down to core of problems from addiction.relatable

Dealing with crack addiction as a parent, it allowed me to see things from my daughters side. We read it together and talked about it. Now we are going to read his dads book. It was very good and was "real" about the way things are and what addicts deal with. And... there is hope!

I've wanted to read both books since they came out. The subject is close to my heart. The seller was right on with her description and the price was right.

  An interesting book to read!

I really enjoyed reading Tweak. I liked how Nic explained his life and all of the terrible things him and his family have had to face. I don't like the fact that families face these same horrible things everyday. I bought the book because I watched the news special where Nic and his father were talking about Nic's life and I also thought it would be an interesting book to read. In some parts of the book though I have to say it was sad what Nic did to his family and even friends.

  Tweak by Nic Sheff
Review created: 03/25/09

Powerful journal of a young man's struggles with addiction. Nic Sheff graphically describes his journey through addiction, rehabilitation, relapse, and finally, through discovering how to love and accept himself. This book was brutally honest - I thought is was very helpful in understanding an addict's pain and their need to mask their pain. I also read his father's account of HIS struggles in "Beautiful Boy" - both books were jolting reminders of the devastation that addicts - and those who love them - face. I think this book would help anyone better understand the mind and actions of an addict. In spite of the raw pain that Nic Sheff exhibits, this book is also a story of hope and recovery. Highly recommended.

I loved this book! Would highly recommend it!

It was so real. No sugar coating. This is the reality and education that people need. I was emotionally drained just reading the book, I can't even imagine living the lifestyle. I only pray that this book can give other addicts the hope that they need to get clean and maintain it. All too often you hear about relapsing and this can be discouraging. I would highly recommend this book.

A story of how low one can be.
Review created: 05/16/08

Very good book to illustrate the dangers of being addicted to drugs. A story of life accounts from the perspective of an addict, an young man who turns into an adult along the way. He writes about life, love and drugs. Trying to fit in somewhere and what a person will do to achieve that.
