The Tuskegee Airmen (DVD, 2001)

This one is really good, but it left me wanting more sequences of the aircraft in dogfights. The storyline is great, and close to fact. It's a good movie, and it was great to see someone make a movie about some of the unsung heroes of WWII.

Just wanted to see more of the aircraft in action.
I would still give it an A+! Great movie!

this is a very good and historically correct movie.the casting was outstanding with laurence fishburne(A.K.A. larry fishburne), allen payne and john lithgow playing thier roles to a T.This movie also had alot of good special effects mixed with actual footage to give it a sense of reality.The people at HBO home video have appearently made a mistake.according to the UPC code this movie is fullscreen but the movie is actually widescreen or letterbox edition.this inacuracy resulted in questioning of a good ebay seller,and this should be corrected.

As a United States History teacher, this is one of my favorite films to share with my students. During WWII, our servicement fought in segregated units. This film shows the determination, courage, and sheer will, that these soldiers displayed. It is an inspiring film to children of all races and ethnicities. The film is a little older so most of my students have not seen it but the movie is by no means dated. The film is very appropriate for high school students and they love the action scenes.

I saw the movie before, and had to have it. Excellent performances by all characters. I am an elderly white southern woman, and I never liked history....this movie is about the uphill battle of black aviators to be allowed to fight in WW2. The story grabs you and won't let go. Don't miss it.

great acting, directing, etc. high adventure and racial issues rolled into one. Laurence Fishburnes performance was excellent. movie builds pride in human achievement.

Definitive point of black history...well worth watching and the story line is not Hollywood over done.

A good purchase for the military/history side of anyone's dvd library.

I love aviation history. This tells the story of many wars within a war. If you like aviation and or history you will love this heart felt movie.Thanks to all our men and women in the armed services. Thanks Tuskegee Airmen.

recieved in very good condition but i have to say the shipping was very slow. if there was anything to improve that would be the place to start

If you liked Memphis belle you'll love this movie. I watched it and then watched it again. Don't try to pick this movie apart, just enjoy the story as it is a true story.

When I watch this movie, I likened it to another movie of the same era "Go For Broke". However, the difference is that "Go For Broke" was made shortly after the war effort, I suppose to mend racial fences. Bravery, the power to overcome prejudice, and still fight for the country that inflicts such indignities on a race says a lot for these two movies. It is a pity that it took all this time to make "The Tuskegee Airmen. What I liked best about the movie is that it centered around the bravery and performance of these airmen and not as much the bigotry of the time. The characters, as did the aviators they represented, kept their primary focus on their mission. Great performances by all cast members. A must for everyones DVD Library.

When I teach my Juniors in High School about World War II - I always include "The Tuskegee Airmen". Students need to know what a difference an amazing group of African Americans made in the fight for our freedom. I rarely see any mention of these fine fighting men ever mentioned in our History book - and I feel they played such an important part in our victory in Europe. I also show "The Windtalkers" to show the important contribution a group of Navajo Code Talkers made in the battles fought in the Pacific Theater. The outcome might have been totally different if they were not a part of our history. I had the VHS but needed the DVD for better viewing. Would highly recommend for the History Teacher or a WWII History buff!

A great movie telling the true story of the first African American fighter pilots in WW2. A great tribute to those incredible men and all the obstacles they had to over come. A great movie for those interested in history - it should be a must see for all school students.

For those offended by racist slurs, do not buy this movie. If the slurs were not included in the script, the historical accuracy of the film would have suffered and the ordeal these men went through would have been lessened.

It is a greast movie; The acting was good, the action was great. The movie is a great inspirational true story about living up to the best.

Enjoyed this movie for the mere fact that it unveiled people's prejudice and stereotyping of others, to a point where for the betterment of all those barriers where broken down. Many traits were exposed from the least positive of HATE to the most positive of HUMILITY due to LOVE of neighbor. The best is that this movie is based on a true story.

I am an avid fan of WWII memorabelia and enjoy a variety ofstories about that war. I had 4 brothers in it and served myself from the end of the Korean Conflict until 1975 (which included all of the VietNam war) which I was in. I bought this story because it adds to my collection of such Epics as Sands of Iwo Jima, FlyingLeathernecks, 30 seconds over Tokyo, 12 O'clock High, etc. I have many and look for those that I consider really goodstories of WWII.

This Movie is fantastic. Especially the Surround Sound. It really gives that Rumbling Sound all around. It's hard to find this DVD in Widescreen. And I'm so glad I did. I love to watch World War II Movies, but only, if they are True Stories. And about this Movie? Not too many people have ideas how Colored Soldiers contributed excellently, in War Times. In 1 of my Collections is another Movie like this. Entitled: GLORY

It has everything u could want a great cast comedy drama action an historical accuracy all in one movie

well done . the movie tells about the hardship and problems that happened with this group of men. how they over came them and proved to the world that they were great pilots and fighters for what they belived in
