Synopsis After the white elephants and the black elephants kill each other off, the grey descendants of those nonfighting elephants who hid during the war emerge, only to eventually find new differences to set them against each other.
Two bands of elephants, one black and the other white, go to war against each other. The few peace-loving elephants, both black and white, take refuge in the jungle. The war rages on until it seems that no elephants are left. Years later, gray elephants, the offspring of the pacifist elephants, emerge from the jungle. Have these gray elephants learned anything from the past? Color illustrations accompany the text.
