This is Reggie's first and foremost best album, its a concept piece, it was written while Bernie was dating Maxine, and spending a lot of time in the Mid West. Best tracks are Where to now St Peter, burn down the mission,Amoreena,Come down in time, and love song. Sting, Heart & Rod Stewart have covered songs from this album. I have had a cassette, an 8 track, two albums, and now a Cd of this body of work. It never gets old. Reggie released four albums the year this came out, and out of the four, i play this, and 11-17-70. Paul Buckmaster's strings are brillant, and Gus Dungeon production is fantastic. A short list of the players, Caleb Quaye, Madeline Bell,Dusty Springfield,Roger Pope,Herbie Flowers, Dave Glover,Tony hazard, and Tony Burrows. Country rock was just taking off in USA, Poco, Flying Burrito Brothers, Longbranch PennyWhistle.
Reg can sing in any style...this effort proves it.
This Recording has been remastered in 1996, with one song added.
In 2008, its been remastered again, and with live tracks from the Live Broadcast at BBC 1. This is the first time , in North America, these tracks have been released. Any true Reg Dwight Fan...should skip this , and buy that.
