Tuesdays With Morrie made me cry =[

Hey everyone! I loved the book, but I couldn't make myself read the last chapter, because we all know how it ends. I cried my eyes out the entire book, but I had to read it for a class. Morrie is this sweet fragile man that you just can't help but love! =] I would recommend this book to anyone that loves old people or has a special sympathy for them.
If you found this review at all helpful please vote "yes!" Thanks -Liz

Mitch Albom writes with an ability to bring to you into the story. I just wish he had started the story as easily as it progressed. It took several pages to find his rhythm, but once Albom did it was simple and easy. Morrie became as much my teacher as he was Albom's. I was as sad about the way his life was ending from disease as I was joyful at the wisdom being shared. This book will make you look at life differently and you will find yourself asking some of the big questions most of us don't want to ask ourselves, such as, *Why am I here?* and *Did I make a difference?* In the end Albom and Morrie let us into a very private time between two men, one dying, one with much life left to live. Sometimes you will feel almost like an intruder and sometimes you will feel like a member of the scene. No matter what, you will empathize with Albom and learn from Morrie. You won't want to leave the book unfinished.

Few books will touch you as deeply as this. In this retelling of a true story, we find two people who come together after many years to teach each of us the importance of friendship and frialty of life. You will look harder and deeper at each your friendships, the current and forgotten. It is never too late to rekindle a friendship and we all need each other deeply.

This is a book every person should read and own. It is not a book to read once, it is a book that should be read multiple times. Read it when things get tough or when things are great, you will learn and appreciate more everytime.

Required reading for all of mankind

It took me until last week to finally read this book after not being a "book reader" or one who watches many movies. I can honestly say that after the few hours it took to read it I have a different outlook on life. This should be required reading for every human - we all could learn a great deal from Morrie and make this world a better place! Do yourself a favor a get a copy - you'll be a better person for it.

  Tuesdays with Morrie

This is a funny little book, not literally funny. I took a class in college called psychology of death and dying. My professor used this book, it was actually a required text for the class. We had to explore everything about the way Morrie approached his life and dying and write a 4 page essay on it. What I learned the most from this book is that to except death is ok. Morrie never dwells on the sadness of dying more on how full his life had been. The Author had a harder time dealing with Morrie's upcoming death than Morrie did himself. I found this to be a beautiful, positive approach to death. I hope I can be the same... It's quite a small simply wrote book, great for the person who has a hard time reading a 500 page book. Although when I bought it at the campus book store you'd die if you paid what I had to pay.

I had heard very good things about this book and I thought it might be a book I might like to read and that my Dad might enjoy it also. There was nothing that I disliked about this book. It was so well-written and you learned a lesson from it on almost every page. My dad said it was probably the best book he had ever read(he turned 84 in Feb.) and it probably one of the best books I've ever read. I would recommend it to anyone at all.The story was simple but very powerful, well worth the read!

I purchased this book because Mitch Albom was the guest speaker at my daughter's college graduation. I found him to be very captivating. I was truly taken with his recounting of Morrie Schwartz. The book didn't disappoint me. It was very enlightening. If I had had a professor like Morrie when I was in college, my life would have a different meaning. Thank you Mitch for sharing Morrie with me!

This book is well written. Once you start it, you can't put it down. It is not very long and has such a great meaning with it. I bought this book to send to my old boss, also my mentor.
Another great book by Mitch Albom is "The Five People You Meet In Heaven".

Tuesdays with Morrie is a masterpiece, on par with Goodbye, Mr. Chips.
It provides a fundamental perspective of human existence, it's
beauties and challenges as seen through the eyes of Morrie, Mitch's school teacher. Written well. A must read book for every mature adult.

I had heard inserts from this book on tv, and found it interesting so I did a search on ebay. This offer was for two additional books by the same author. They were the "five people you meet in heaven", and "for one more day".I have read all three and throughly enjoyed them all. It was a great deal for the three books and they were in like new condition. They were shipped very fast and the cost was very good also. I intend to pass them along to my Sister and my niece. There are life lessons in them we can all use. It also saves time and gas to order online. I live in a small town and probbaly would have had a hard time finding these books anywhere else.

I love this book and you really have to read it. This heart warming story is a source of enlightenment. It is where profound wisdom and insights of life are shared. It is beautifully written and it really captures your heart. If you can't get enough from Mitch Albom, read "The five people you meet in heaven" and "For one more day"

  Light Reading, Leaves Heavy Message
Review created: 12/11/07(updated 12/11/07)
by:
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I've heard several reviews of the book and wasn't compelled to read it until I learned how the book/story came to be. The author's candid details of what is considered by most to be one of life's 'peripheral' relationships, comes full-circle and gives the reader a strong 'curtain-call' message, long before intermission. It touches on every emotion at some point and will have you making comparisons to your own life, by the end of the first 'Tuesday'. We tend not to notice certain important things in life which don't yet 'apply' to us but in the end, this story applies to everyone and to read it earlier rather than later, is a gift. Death is certain for all of us and as a frightening thought for most, we simply do our best to pretend it's not out there. In my opinion, this book is an answer to the "What if...". If you don't feel anything by the end of the second 'Tuesday', you may be numb. I strongly recommend you re-read, and finish the book. It's a bit like a cold splash of reality, which oddly, leaves you feeling covered in a warm blanket.

  Heart warming & inspiring story
Review created: 03/17/07

Even though Morrie is diagonas with MS he prepares Mitch for the last two stages of life, making a family & death. Through the meetings on Tuedays Mitch starts to relaize life is more important than meeting all those deadlines of a job. People now days don't know what family time means and most of all people are scared of the one thing that happens to everyone death. This helps people answer some of those unknown questions. The reason I brought this is because I read it before in high school & touched me so much I wanted it in me collection.

Loved It More Than the Movie!

If you've seen the movie first, you might think it's a waste of time to read the book...WRONG! I loved this book and still reread alot of the notes I took while reading it. We use this book in one of our humanities classes at our local college. I'm not sure if it's my age, but at age 40+ - it meant alot to me and spoke LOUD AND CLEAR! Life is short and it's better to focus on the things that count - like the ones you love. READ THIS! It's great food for thought!

i would recommend this book for anyone who just wants a quick relaxing little read. I enjoyed it, even tho it hits on some pretty heavy issues, like aging, and death, etc. it manages to do it in a nice simple way that draws you in as if you're sitting there in the garden with the birds, gazing at a rose, without another care in the world.

I bought the book as my father passed away from ALS last year, this way my children can read the book when they are old enough so they may remember the way their papa fought his disease. The book is very moving and emotional, much better than the movie. Mitch is an excellent writer and I intend to purchase all his books.

Every day should be with Morrie! Great insight into what should be most valued as we travel through this life. If Tuesdays with Morrie doesn't cause you to pause and evaluate how you are living, you haven't been paying attention.
