True Blue [Remaster] by Madonna (CD, May-2001, Warner Bros. Records Record Label)

Despite Madonna's early efforts to be controversial, she never really crossed over into silly, annoying,just to get attention, controversy until after her album True Blue. Although, Papa Don't Preach was condemned by many social groups for it's message and it appeared to be an attention grabber,it was social commentary on the smallest scale with some edginess mixed in.
Madonna wanted to stay ahead of the game but ultimately at this time in her career, her fans loved her for her music and her spunky persona.
The music on this album sells itself with or without controversy. It's just plain good American True Blue Pop Music. Don't over think it or over analyze it.
The songs Live to Tell, Papa Don't Preach, Open Your Heart, True Blue, La Isla Bonita and White Heat are just some of the highlights. Open Your Heart's video overshadowed the song but it remains one of Madonna's best songs ever. True Blue, the title song, is still a beacon of the lost artist called Madonna....before The Sex Book, before EVITA, before Guy Ritchie and before her super imposed opinions flip flopped like a dying carp on a shore of her home state of Michigan.
After this album which she dedicated to her then husband, American icon, Sean Penn, she starts to enter into her point of no return. She crosses over into musical adulthood where she starts to take herself too seriously and although she has not hit her career peak, she does leave behind that hometown girl who went to New York to become a star with a mere $35.00 in her pocket.
Gone is that American True Blue girl, with family values and clever poppy songs. Gone are the songs that don't have some hidden agenda. Madonna's face on this album is iconic and a great American classic portrait/picture was born. It's the last time we see Madonna as innocent and sincere. Goodbye AMERICAN TRUE BLUE...

True Blue is classic Madonna at its best, before all the scandal, before all the hoopla, this is a true display of her raw talent, in a CD that helped make her break into the big time, a definite must for any avid 80's music fan!
