Another good show that bit the Fox dust

As a fan of Eliza Dushku (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame) I anxiously anticipated this show. And I was not disappointed. A fantastic premise drives this show, with excellent supporting characters. Although you do feel badly for Tru through much of it. Another good show that bit the Fox dust.

I wish this show had been picked up by the Wb. I believe it would have survived on that station.

I loved this show it was so original. The stories were great I loved the first season and couldnt wait to see the second. The only reason I didnt give it 5 is it left everything up in the air. It was cancelled. Thats what I hate about some of these shows. The should try to come full circle with the show. That was my only complaint.

this is a short lived season that got better with each week this DVD demonstrates that ...plot twist and Eliza running in slow motion in opening credits is worth it ... goof sidekicks and the elmination of the sister similar to happy days cutting chuck from the team. this was a supernatural phenonmon show before medium and ghost whisperer.

Tru's back! then is cancelled with no warning...

Tru Calling joins "Charmed" in gathering up the remains of the 65 million
viewer audience worldwide for this television genre for a second, entertaining season. Renewed by Fox for three more complete 22 episode season's in early June after the season 1 finale. Eliza Dushku goes on the promotional circuit
pumping up the second season. This second year brings with it an almost "X-Files" type of mythology arc and delivers the goods in these 8 episodes.
No one will go on record as to why Fox pulled the plug and cancelled the lucrative deal, other than the standard, lawyer approved "rating's slippage".
I've heard rumors, but they don't really matter now. An excellent TV indulgence is gone, but lives on in through your DVD player! Season 2 is a must have for the TRU fan...

  Tru-ly Fun 2

A short but interesting second season to this Eliza Dushku series is fun to watch. While some of the characters from the first season are gone, specifically AJ Cook as Tru's best friend, there are new ones such as Liz Vassey as her professor.

The show was a little more cohesive and showed signs of an interesting mythology before Fox ended the show. I would've liked to see what they would've done with it if the show had continued.

Like season 1, a good addition to anyone's Eliza Dushku collection. (You can see my review of the first season for my feelings regarding the show in general.)

Tru Calling Season 2~Keeps you on the edge of your seat
Review created: 03/25/08

I used to watch this series when it was on TV and loved it. I sort of forgot about the show, until SciFi did an all day marathon on it. I really enjoyed the episodes that I got to see again and even saw some "new" ones that I had missed when they aired before. This series is about a girl named Tru (played by Eliza Dushku) who works in a morgue. She learns that she has the gift of re-living days when a corpse asks for her help. She is instantly propelled back to the previous day and knows exactly what will happen. She spends her time trying to stop the death of the person seeking her help. The other main character is Jack (played by Jason Priestly). Jack has a similar ability, but his job is to stop Tru from helping the dead. His "calling" is to keep the dead~dead. The interaction between these two characters is exciting and very confrontational at times. It is a very entertaining show and keeps watchers at the edge of their seat. Sometimes Tru does save the day, but not always. Sometimes Jack has his way.Unfortunately, this show was canceled in it's 2nd season. One thing that was a disappointment to me about season 2 is that there were only 6 episodes. Season one had 20 episodes. Season 2 does have a nice bonus though: The final episode that was never aired on TV (until SciFi aired it during the marathon) is included in Season 2. In that episode, arch enemies Tru and Jack have to work together. I highly recommend this series. Both season 1 and 2 are awesome! Season 1 is usually much more expensive since it has more episodes. Season 2 averages about $13-17 for the set of 2 discs.

  So Much Potential....................
Review created: 03/30/06(updated 06/09/08)

This season, though significantly shorter (only 6 episodes) really exemplified just how far this show could have gone given the opportunity. Everything seemed to be coming together with character development and plot revelations that were both intriguing and surprising. The stories were strong, and the show seemed leaner and more focused, as if season 1 managed to provide the shake-down cruise that set it all on its way. Eliza was, of course, fantastic, and the rest of the cast shines as well. Not all that it could be, but it was on its way, and it's a shame it didn't get the opportunity to truly find it place. It is well worth the purchase price, and the extras are really cool too. Check it out.

  Totally addictive series!
Review created: 12/01/09

This season goes into depth of all the characters. The unfortunate thing about it is that its very short. Tru Calling is an awesome show. It makes you wonder what side you would be on with the two main characters. And each episode keeps you guessing.

Even with a shortened season - this is a must see!!!

For those of you who happened to catch this series on television, I'm sure that you will agree that this was a great series. The first season was very intriguing with a very good storyline of a morgue attendant who is able to save dead people by reliving days and changing what fate had in store.

The second season was that much better with the addition of Jack, played by Jason Priestley. Now added to the storyline is Tru's alter ego -- a force of evil who tries everything possible to keep Tru from saving lives.

The drama, suspense, and plot twists are amazing throughout the second season. I only wish that there were more episodes to watch. Unfortunately, the show was cancelled after 6 episodes. I still do not understand why. I would watch season after season of this show! A true sleeper of a series and a must see!

  Great TV Show
Review created: 05/13/09

I loved this t.v. show. it had a lot of potential. It's about Tru Davies played by Eliza Dushku, who is sent to relive the previous day after someone who should have not died ends up in the morgue she is working at. She has to try and save their life so they don't die. But Jason Priestly has the same gift she does and believes the people should die, that it's life's natural order or selection and he constantly intervenes and tries to stop her from saving the person who asked for her help in the morgue as a dead body.

  Dissapointing ending of the series.
Review created: 05/10/09

This second season doesn't feature Tru's sister of her best friend which I enjoyed watching.

Since the introduction of the dark side character, I dont remember his name(opposite of Tru) the show started to slide down.

And it ends without giving an explanation or setting it up for a future revival.
It ends like any other episode.

Tru - part 2 cut short unfortunately
Review created: 05/07/09

The second season of this show was given a new plot twist when Tru was given a character who attempted to stop her from accomplishing her rewinds and saving lives. That the whole thing was sponsored by her father was a little over the edge and may have also involved the death of ther mother 10 or 11 eleven years before seems to take away from the story. To have a foil is okay, but the measures even her father went to seems unreal (in one episode he was even willing to have her go to jail for murder), Still, I enjoyed this shortened season of shows and felt with some thought and care, it could have continued.

I'm so sorry this series is no longer on. I really enjoyed each episode. Tru has a gift of being called on the re-live days to try and help a body that comes into the morgue where she works. There were only five episodes in Season Two, which was a bit disappointing. But I enjoyed each one. Sure wish the show hadn't been canceled! Highly recommended!
