Synopsis The adventures of fish and game warden Joe Pickett continues in this fourth mystery in a series. The bizarre mutilations of an elk and several cattle are merely the prelude to two human corpses, mutilated in the same fashion. The sheriff blames birds or the grizzly bear rumored to be roaming the area. The locals, egged on by a paranormal expert, think aliens are responsible. Joe Pickett, on the other hand, is convinced that the deaths have a terrestrial, human cause, and he's determined to find it.
