Tron (DVD, 2002, 20th Anniversary Collector's Edition)

It's been about 27 years since this movie first came out and it is still one of my favorites. Jeff Bridges is great in this film as well as (Warner) the evil one.

It was the summer of '81, I graduated High School and the next year I was in college. I went to see this movie in the theater and I can still remember the joy and surprise of being inside a mainframe computer. Long before things like the Matrix came out, the idea of the master control program was amazing. This movie inspired my to become interested in computers and was and still is one of my favorite past-times.

Bally or some other computer software company soon came out with an arcade game of TRON which I dearly loved to play.

This was the first computer animation movie of its kind, by the way.

5/5 is the only score I can think of on this movie.

A Movie Ahead Of Its' Time.... and its' performance at the box office suffered.

Even to date, this movie doesn't get the respect it should have, and thus is relegated to an 'average' rating, even by me!

If you are of the several people that keep coming across the references to 'Tron', then you need to check this movie out, even on rental!

Tron has a great premise with a great story and was actually cast pretty well in the early 80's (1982) - The visuals were way ahead of it's time and the game Tron (released by Bally Midway) was my favorite game as a child in the era of arcades.

I just watched this movie again a few nights ago. I had forgotten how cheesey the film actually was. The concepts were certainly different than any other movie before it, but now I see that the writing of the screenplay is where the movie really failed. With modern special effects and renewed interest in gaming - this should be a no brainer for a remake.

The movie is about a hacker named Flynn (played by Jeff Bridges) who is physically transported into a surreal world of computing and gaming by an ego maniacal server called "The Master Control Program". The movie follows Flynn's adventures in this "world" to stop the MCP and reppace him with a safety program called Tron.


The movie could be made much more plausible if Flynn were instead plugged into the Master Control Program's "world" Matrix style.

This was a Christmas gift for an individual that has loved Tron since being a teen. It was on a wishlist. Seller was truthful in advertising and shipped promptly.

I love this movie for the effects, the part when they ride motorcycle or something thats cool!!!
I bought this movie because mi little girl was playing Kingdom Hearts 2 and she see it in one chapter that she has to help the programs to reach the computer core to win, and she said, I want that movie to see what happens Dad.

Tron is a great movie for its time. I grew up in the 80's and this movie became an instant favorite of mine as a kid. Now as an adult, I can enjoy the DVD technology and get myself lost in a great classic. This movie was very creative for its time and I was thrilled to see its DVD release. The DVD has many great special features for a true TRON fan to enjoy. I highly recommend it to anyone who can appreciate a movie in which the writers and producers worked with a limitless imagination.

One of my favorite early sci-fi movies. A bit low-tech and somewhat nerdy, but that is part of the charm of this really cool flick. It is fun to watch in a group, and I have enjoyed introducing my kids and their friends to this genre of old-guy movies.

I loved this film for it's imagination, and influenced my decision to study computer design. You can only appreciate it on a large screen, I'm looking forward to Tron Legacy next year.

It is amazing how in 2009 our cars are quite similar to the car in the games in this futuristic movie. From this movie it has become an archive of computers of the past and what we THOUGHT would be in the future. One of the MUST HAVES in any DVD (or other media) collection. Even the actors in this movie have gone on to be great. You don't have to be a computer geek to enjoy this one either.

I was happy to get this film and watch it with my 14 yr old son while we both anticipate the release of the sequel. My son is a maniac about video games, like most kids his age and I grew up with Tron in mind. It was a bonding experience to watch this on our Infocus 4805 Projector and it was just like it was when I saw it in the movie theater. Tron was definitely ahead of it's time and it predated so many things that have happened since. It was a great find on eBay and we counted the days until we received it in the mail. So happy to have purchased this flick.

Tron set the standard by which all other computer generated graphics will be judged. It may seem hokey and far fetched but it is a great fantasy epic that even though it is 27 years old will remain on the cutting edge of all science fiction.

it brought back some great childhood memories. the dvd was great and in excellent shape, when it arrived.

The product arrived in the mail well protected in a bubble wrap.. Should be standard for all DVD these day.
However the two disc were lose inside, one pop out and the other disc's flip cover broken off it hing. Not the seller fault at all.period. It just poor product the manufacture didn't though it would be sent in the mail.
Still would buy from him again.

It was a gift for my nephew. He loved it. He had been looking for this movie for a long time and was very happy that I was able to find it for him.

I rented it to watch it again after many years. My seven year old fell in love with it. Now my 16, 13 and 4 year old thinks its the coolest movie.

My son watched this movie, when he was young... every weekend... until the movie rental store owner offer the VHS for us to buy. Now, in this age of DVD's, I am pleased to find a copy for his birthday.
