if you like to love you go to llike this picture, is very very good drama picture. you go to love, this picture is in medieval times, the the combination of James franco and Sophia Miles are amazing in this picture. thats the title say (before Romeo & Juliet there was tristan + Isolde) buy or rent this picture you go to loved.

It's a women's movie.I saw it before I bought it and decided that it is a excellent movie for my women's collection, thats why I bougth it.

Well written script, excellent movie. Like the other reviewers, I loved this movie the first time I saw it and bought it immediately. I too liked Sophie Myles and watch her on the show Moonlight now. The commentary is also very interesting. Worth having in your personal video library. KM

I first saw this movie on HBO and got hooked on it. I had my daughter watch it and I saw parts that didn't click the first time I watched it. I bought this for my daughter who loves old age and historic themes. She is crazy about it and has researched all the characters well. Now we watch Moonlight because of Sophia Miles who is a great actress. Rufuss Sewell is also a terrific actor...I would rate this an A.....I must say though, you must pay attention or one could get lost, but with us for as often as we watch, we know it by heart...enjoy

Before Romeo and Juliet there was Tristan and Isolde. I saw that tag-line on this movie once long before I saw it, and it turned me off. Then a dear friend (who is not a girlie girl) said I HAVE to see it. This movie is breathtaking! With it's awesome historical reference; the tragedies of war, love and duty - and most of all how all three of those become so unavoidably intertwined. Wow, way too many huge words - but the magnitude of the time and the scenery and the "dark ages" violence and majesty rolled into one story... so amazing! The many levels of love and loyalty for country and family and heritage... it just goes on and on... We watched in mixed company where the men and women loved the movie and I bought it the next day. We pop this in the DVD a minimum of once a month. At the very least I highly recommend you rent it. But I will be honest, I bawl every time! I hope you enjoy it.

Beautiful, sweet "King Arthur" battle story. As I recall, no swear words and no "rated X or R" sex scenes. A movie you can comfortably watch and listen to. I'm an action fan, not a romantic, and it kept me interested all the way through. Maybe a bit more blood than some would prefer but not for me.

The price i purchase this DVD was awesome, also with where i live no stores sell this movie. So Ebay was my 1st choice in trying to find one to buy. Kudos to eBay!!!!!!!!!!!

I absolutely LOVED this movie!!! I just watched it for the first (and definitely NOT the last) time... HIGHLY recommend it to all you hopeless romantics out there like me! ;] ♥! What I loved best about "Tristan & Isolde" is level of passion and utter tragedy in their love story... it pulled harder on the heart-strings than any "Romeo & Juliet" could! "The love that would ruin a kingdom..."

I'm buying this movie just for James Franco! Watched it in the theaters and heard every girl in it go crazy about him, even my friends were still daydreaming about him weeks later. The movie wasn't the best directed film, but it offered an interesting change to the movies usually seen in the States - the focal point were the men in it, as opposed to the countless films where the women dominated most of the movie. Aside from that aspect, it's also a nice role reversal; Isolde is a pimpette LOL =P

This a great Celtic Love Story! It is very emotionally intense. The history references are numerous so it is very educational as well. I recommend it for anyone's movie library!

I loved the movie. I like historical movies and I like love stories and this had both. Although critics' reviews had been divided and the movie was not even shown in my area, I wanted to buy it and I am very glad I did. I immediately watched it twice and to my surprise, even my otherwise critical husband said it "was pretty good". The actors were very convincing and kept me spellbound. To me, this movie will always be a favorite and always be worth my money.

This movie is purdy sweet. James Franco is a savage beast. Rufus and his missing hand are pretty funny. "When the Irish came to Cornwall and my father surrendered you spared, a dozen out of a hundred. I am even less kind, the leader and 3 will take this message home, as for the rest "whack/thunderbolts" (as someones head is falling off)" I just realized i have watched this movie too many times lol

Tristan and Isolde is definitely a recommended movie! Believe me, I am tired of the usual forbidden love and tragic death movies too, but this one was done very well. The acting was excellent, adding that important character depth that is so needed in these kind of movies. It is not a grandiose epic movie either, it is a period piece of forbidden love nearing the end of the Roman Empire and the early European civilization. Sounds cliche, but its much better than that. At a time when hollywood is producing such regurgitated garbage, Tristan and Isolde is far above the others. Enjoy!

really good movie in every way. it is one of the movie i would consider as a classic. i you have read the book you wont be disapointed by the movie and the girl is really hot in some scene!

I loved this movie, I would have given it a 5 but rather save those for the "got to have" titles. This was a very romantic love movie, one male and female can both get into. A great romeo and juliet type of film but better.

Beautiful cinamatography and scenery. A love story like Romeo & Juliett with a twist. Well written and wonderful performances by all.

I do have books and movies about Romeo and Juliet,so why do not have the love story just from anicent celts land?! Excellent historical movie.

Sadly the movie didn't end as I wanted...but made it interesting...didn't know what was going to happen next...Romeo and Juliet...very old time period...had to watch close in order to follow...

If you are not a hopeless romantic then don't watch this. The emotion feels so real in this movie. I loved the storyline. It makes you believe that true love really does exist.
