This Book's Title Caught My Eye...

...because it was supposed to be the telling of when DC Comics 'Trinity' first met.
For those not in the know, for several years the only superheroes that DC Comics had in their comics titles were: Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, thus the 'Trinity' label.
I thought that the story would be set in a time period many years ago, about when the three first met.
However, that was not the case when reading this book. Matt Wagner, the writer and artist of this comic book series that was compiled into this book, may have a 'retro look' to his art, but the meeting was updated to look like present times. Which could be deduced by seeing Superman scan the stolen Lexcorp Projects Security Disc. That technology wouldn't be that old.
So when exactly was this first meeting held time-wise? Well, I finished the book and still don't know for sure...
The storyline had 'billionaire eco-terrorist' Ra's al Ghul be the major villain, and with 'billionaire' and 'eco-terrorist' terminology one would have to think present days. (The book was published in 2004.)
So, how was the first meeting between the three? To me it wasn't all that exciting... Why? For these three icons to meet to fight a common cause, I would have thought it would be a bigger event.
Maybe I was spoiled by earlier writers who wrote first meets years ago, the first meeting of the JLA for example...
For someone that doesn't know the years of continuity, (baggage?), of the three superheroes this might be a better read than it was for me.
The artwork was very stylized and I enjoyed that part of the book.
The compilation of the three issues of the comic book series from 2003 rates a 3 out of 5 for me....
