Album Notes E-Clypse includes: Jemma Price (vocals). This CD doesn't look too promising on its face, with its minimalist artwork (and not a note or a credit anywhere on or in it). And in fact, it doesn't have much ambition other than re-creating -- rather than re-interpreting, or refining, or in anyway adding anything to -- Kate Bush's song catalog. It's not as though her catalog is in any way unavailable, so that musically and philosophically this CD isn't much more than a vanity project -- a chance for singer and band to imitate an artist whom they obviously admire, but to no real purpose other than, apparently, the mere sake of doing it. That said, it is also difficult to complain about anyone doing -- even in Bush's style and arrangements -- Kate Bush's repertory; with the possible exception of parts of The Dreaming, anything that gets her music heard and recorded and out there by anyone is "OK" in principal. Who knows, perhaps someone who doesn't know her music will pick this up in a cut-out bin for $1 or $2 and discover it . So while the release is pointless for E-Clypse and Jemma Price, it's still got a decent raison d'être in the larger sense, of presenting Bush's music. And it should be said that the playing, while slavishly imitating what we've heard on Bush's records, isn't bad at all -- the guitars are beautiful. And Jemma Price has her heart, if not all of her intonation, in the right place. ~ Bruce Eder
