A Lot of Good Information Needs an Update

There are very few guides available about this subject and few as complete as this book. However, it hasn't been updated since first published in 1973 and it could use a good overhaul. The only color prints are in the Flowers and Fruits sections near the front of the book and they are not of the best quality. The rest of the book is in black and white making it impossible, for example, to compare leaf color between two species.
I don't recommend this book as a wildcrafer's guide, but it is an excellent reference book once you have identified the plant. Part III. of the book, Natural History of the Species Arranged According to Families, provides the most excellent information about the history and migration of trees and how man has impacted them. You should own this book just for that chapter and for that reason I am giving it 4/5.
