Missing the compelling storyline of Ghost Rider
Review created: 03/28/09(updated 04/02/09)
Ghost Rider is a compelling book. Having suffered a similar loss many years ago, I was drawn to this book. For years I avoided reading my copy, feeling uncomfortable with my own thoughts and feelings and the idea of prying into someone else's personal tragedy. The book was an eye-opener and helped me to confront some of my own demons.
Maybe I brought too many expectations, or the wrong ones, to my reading of Traveling Music. The book is really a collection of Neil Peart's personal memories as they relate to the music that he has enjoyed personally and which has shaped his own musical development. It would better, perhaps, in smaller doses or in the blog format he uses on his website. For me, a book should be a cohesive whole, to be read and drawn into. I just could not read more than 50 pages at a time without knowing where the flow of the book was taking me.
