Transporter 2 (DVD, 2006, Widescreen)

Transporter 2 is an action packed movie. In this movie the transporter (Frank Martin) is driving for a wealthy family when the family's son is kidnapped. The rest of the movie Frank Martin is trying to find the people who took the kid and get him back. This movie is full of plenty of action packed car chase scenes and fighting scenes. Some of the action is a little over the top and unbelievable, but overall this movie is fun to watch. This movie if good if you're in the mood for an action packed movie that not too serious. If you liked the first Transporter movie than you'll definitely like this one as well.

If you think the Hollywood movies have been a little slow in action this Summer, the cure has arrived. Jason Statham has returned to repise his role as Frank Martin, The Transporter. Although Frank has traded in his BMW for an Audi, the character is the same and the action takes the first movie up several notches.

This time around, Frank is doing a favor for a friend and is "transporting" the son of a government official to and from school. Frank and the boy have developed a bond since the boy's father (played by Matthew Modine) always seems to be away from home on business and has lost touch with the boy's life (Modine's character gets his son a complete baseball outfit for his birthday, only to find out his son stopped playing last year and is now a pretty good soccer player). Unfortunately, a Miami drug runner (played by Alessandro Gassman) has plans to kidnap the child and use him as the carrier of a deadly virus to kill his father. Now it's up to Frank to save the boy and find the antidote to cure him.

If you enjoyed the first movie, this one won't disappoint. The fight sequences here are choreographed again by Corey Yuen (though he doesn't direct this time around) and Luc Beeson had a hand in the screenplay. This movie doesn't stray far from the original formula that worked so well (fast cars, martial arts battles every few minutes, Statham's quiet manner even in the midst of a dozen guys out to get him, etc). Statham keeps the character low-key through everything, as if nothing can worry the Transporter.

Unfortunately, in an attempt to take everything a step further, there are a few sequences that go over the top. Using a wave runner-on land-to keep up with a bus, literally dodging bullets in a hallway, and Martin's unorthodox method for disabling a bomb under his car are just a few of the moments to make you cringe. And the final battle with Gassman is so far steeped in unreality you'll probably find it hard to swallow the premise. Still, when it comes to one-on-ten combat with an angry mob, Statham makes it beautiful. In one scene of the first movie, he takes down two police officers while holding Qi Shu on his shoulders. In this movie, he disables several bodyguards at once in the same non-lethal manner. In fact, the movie wastes no time showing us Martin still has the moves by giving us one of the best fights in the movie within the first five minutes. And through it all, he never wrinkles his suit. And the sight of Frank behind the wheel of a Ferrari made the entire theater start talking when I watched it. If you thought he could handle a Beemer, wait until he shows you what he can do with a really fast car!
The return of a character from the first movie (I won't spoil the surprise, since I never saw them in any of the previews) really shows us Martin's not just a driving machine-he's a man with friends.

If you're looking for deep, Oscar-winning performances and the feel-good movie of the summer, you won't find it here. If you're willing to suspend your beliefs in reality for a little while and want some over-the-top action and fun, you won't want to miss The Transporter 2.

Lots of action. More CG action than the first one. I love the car scene at the end of the movie. Highly recommended.

comparing it to the first transporter i was disappointed ....
the first transporter he was realalistiicly skilled but this second one it just goes into overkill to go into imaginary world because his skills are impossible!! plus the casting left for something to be desired .... thats in comparison .... BUT .... to JUST watch this movie yes i enjoyed it and would watch it again and again, i just didnt like the differences in character between the two transporters

My husband and I watched Transporter and Transporter 2 back to back the first time that we saw them. Seeing them back to back, the first one left us in great anticipation for the second one. We couldn't wait long enough to put the DVD in the player, we were so excited. But, I don't think that there was as good choreography and action as there was in the first one. Don't get me wrong. There IS good action, driving and fighting. But just NOT AS good as the first. Still a good movie to see!

Alright. In my opinion, I liked it. A bit different from the first, but about as good. It's worth buying (cheaper on Ebay)or renting. Jason Statham seems to be the next Jackie Chan in this movie, but without the comedy.

Next. I don't know why this movie was rated PG-13, they must have been out of their minds. In my opinion it should had been rated R. Violence, Language, and Partial Nudity. PG-13? The violence was definately violent, Language wasn't exceptional just because there wasn't much, and the partial nudity (still was nudity). Granted, I did like the movie (not because of these reasons), I just dont think a 13 y/o is old enough to watch it.

Jason Statom is the action star everyone should watch and his acting skill is top-notched. His role in Transporter 1 and 2 adds merits to the good storyline. This is a movie worth viewing and collecting.

I LOVE the fighting and action in the first movie, which is why I bought this DVD (in hopes that the action would be just as good, if not better). But, some of the fight scenes on this DVD were without purposes. For example, the movie opens up where the main character is sitting in his car in a BIG empty garage in the middle of the garage. And, then someone tries to steal his car and he beats them up and complains about being late. WHY was he in the garage in the first place. And, how can you be late after only fighting for 5 minutes? He should not have gotten out of the car! And, throughout the movie he parks his car where NO ONE would park their car. Come on! The fighting is awesome, but what I hated about the movie is what he could do with his car (jumps, upside down flips, COME ON!). That is what turned me off about the movie. Not as good as the first one at all. If you thought the first one was believable, the second version is PURE FANTASY.

I thought this movie had a lot of fresh ideas, things I had not ever heard of and great twists. You really need to pay attention or you will not know what is going on and you might have to rewind.

I've thought Jason Statham was and excellent actor ever since Snatch, but this serious of transporter movies is pretty bad. There are a few good action seens in this movie, but overall you'll find yourself saying "yeah, right" about 10 times in this movie. One of the most rediculous stunts in the movie is when he somehow mangaes to do a barrel roll with a car in the air to knock a bomb off the bottem of the car. This stunt being so rediculous actually made me mad. The entire plot to the movie is pretty lacking also, but the main chick in the movie is really sexy and thats pretty much the only thing that keeps you watching.

After watching transporter 1 and being on the edge of your seat, what would you like to do after is over, is just get the next one up to keeo it going....so transporter 2 is the way to go.....

I love every one of the Transporter movies.Jason Statham is a very good actor.He is my favorite action actor.I think the whole family could enjoy this movie.

I love this movie cause it has action and it keeps you on the edge of your feet through the whole movie. Beside I like Jason Statham. He is real good with cars and there is a lot of action in this movie. I don't think this movie is good for young kids like the age of 10 yrs and under. But a young adult could watch this movie.

Excellent movie that have been watched a many of times.

I just love Jason Statham. Trying to get Transporter 1 but always seems to get outbid. I will never give up trying though.

I thought it was in great condition till I played it on dvd player and skips alot. Did not realize there was so many scratches on it so I am not pleased with my product one bit.

As The transporter 1, this film was good.The actor Jason Statham just fit for this role.Can not wait for Transporter 3.

Great action movie. I saw T1, and enjoyed it, so I got T2, as well. T3 comes out in November. My only misgiving are the cartoonish car chases in T1.

I purchased this movie for my dad. I have never actually seen it, but from what my dad said, it was an excellent movie. I do want to sit down and watch it because i really like Jason Statham and his acting.I trust my dads opinions on movies, so in his words, this was a movie worth watching.

The ultimate driver, he seems to be able to do anything in this car. Jump from one building to another, outrun pursuers. He even could be romantic, if she was not married. A young boy he was transporting home from school is taken from him by kidnappers. He is a suspect, because of the manner the boy was taken. In order to save the boys life, he must take matters in his own hands. Jason Statham fans will enjoy another of his action packed movies.
