I love this book. Since I'm a huge fan of Transformers I actually was really impressed with the book. I noticed though that Arcee wasn't in the book which was weird since she was such a main character in the first animated movie. I can't wait to check up the values of the toys i have and it will come in handy when buying on ebay.

I was a little skeptical about this book at first due to the low price but I gave it a try anyways. I have to say it is one of the best collecting guides I have ever purchased. The photos are nice looking and go over in detail all the parts that come with each piece. I love the fact that it includes the bio and the tech specs for each transformer. The additional info that gives info on the marvel comics and cartoon series.
If you need a book to help you get started with your transformers collection this is the book for you.

Wonderful pictures and detail descriptions, including the tech bio, on the individual toys. I enjoy reading it like a story book.

Pictures include the toy itself and the loose accessories that comes with the toy. This is a book you must have to ensure that your Transformer you are bidding on ebay is really complete.

I recommend this book is a must for all transformers fans as a reading material.

Perfect for collectors and sellers alike!

You really can't go wrong with any publication of Mark Bellomo's. Having links to the creators of the toys themselves, Bellomo has put together the most thorough reference guide on the subject possible. Included within are all of the Transformers of the vintage era, complete with full-color photos, history, methods of grading, and a clear pictorial and text explanation of the easily lost accessories that make the Transformers complete. This book is perfect for both collectors and sellers alike to help identify particular figures and assess their values, especially useful in the modern era of online auctions. 'Transformers Identification and Price Guide' is a must have for anyone with an interest in this subject. Also recommended is Bellomo's 'The Ultimate Guide To G.I. Joe 1982-1994'.

Transformers Identification & Price Guide Book
Review created: 03/10/09(updated 07/12/09)

This is a great book for the beginner collector or long-time collector (like me) who seeks out the classic old-school GEN 1 Transformers (series 1-(1984) to series 7-(1990)). With 253 colored pages of pure vintage robotic bliss. Includes all the greats (Optimus Prime, Megatron, Devastator, Jazz, Bumblebee, Soundwave, The Dinobots, Starscream, Hoist, Prowl, Jetfire, Ironhide, Rumble, Tracks, Kup, Wheeljack, The Insecticons, Hun-Grrr, Computron, The Predacons, Powermasters, Red Alert, Overload, ActionMasters, Pretenders, Aerialbots, Bruticus, Dirge, Blitzwing,Sky Lynx & so many more!) Packed with info such as Tech Specs (specs that were on the back of the packages), value, pics of them in robot mode & alternate mode with all weapons, plus a little history of these great classics. I also like this book because as a collector I get a great idea of what my collection could be worth (this can also be good for a seller). If your like me with bags of weapons and accessories & cases full of figures, this book will help you place the right weapons with the right figure this way you know if you have a Loose 100% Complete Figure. I recommend this book to be in your arsenal of Transformer knowledge. "Observe everything, remember even more"

This is a great book and I enjoy looking through it. Some of the pictures are a little blurry like you may have heard, but they take nothing away from the book. It's a great book for any Transformers fan. My kids even enjoy looking up charecters to see what they looked like when they first came. Prices seem to be pretty good some maybe high and some maybe low.
I think it's a great book and well worth having.

Transformers Identification & Price Guide--Mark Bellomo
Review created: 06/09/08(updated 04/22/09)
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Mark Bellomo has done a wonderful job putting together a guide for Generation 1 Transformers. It covers seven series of Transformers from 1984 to 1990, and includes all of the traditional characters (Optimus Prime, Megatron, Hot Rod, etc.) as well as the Generation 1 Targetmasters, Headmasters, Powermasters, Pretenders, and Micromasters. This book does not include any Transformers produced after series 7 in 1990 (so no Generation 2, Beast Wars, or tie-ins from the live-action movie are included).

The book’s greatest assets are the pictures of every accessory for every figure in Generation 1. Thus allowing collectors to identify what accessories go with what figure, or identify what may be missing. It also features pictures of every Transformer in robot mode, as well as when transformed. The book also contains a couple paragraphs on most figures describing their role, identifying easily damaged or broken parts, and other details to watch for. The book also has a price guide for complete mint figures, mint in box figures, and mint in sealed box figures.

This guide’s biggest detraction is that it never addresses how to identify a true Generation 1 Transformer from Generation 2 reissues, Takara reissues, Toys R Us reissues, and a host of other imitations and knock-offs. Certainly identifying every reissue is beyond the scope of the book, but a few words on how to identify what is a Generation 1 Transformer and what is not would have been very useful since some reissues look very similar to the originals. Also, most figures are unlikely to be both Mint and Complete, so a price guide for loose figures in good condition without accessories would have also been useful.

All in all, this is a useful guide for identifying Generation 1 Transformers and their accessories, and should come in handy in building or organizing your vintage collection.

Note: If you are interested in in distinguishing between original G1 Transformers and reissues or knock-offs there are some helpful guides by other eBay members in the Transformers section of Reviews & Guides.

  Nice book!!

I bought this book because I'm a Transfan and I want to know more details about the price characters, tech specs, motto, and this book is the answer to my doubts, the only negative point in my opinion are the pictures, more professional pics would be good, and I decide buy it because a friend (Transfan too) recommended it to me.

  Transformers: Identification and Price Guide
Review created: 08/10/09
by:

Transformers: Identification and Price Guide is the ultimate reference for all Generation One (G1) Transformers figures released from 1984-1990. Featuring more than 1,200 color photographs, this unparalleled guide presents every character in robot and alternate modes with accessories.
Individual character biographies are presented from the original Tech Specs and also include function, personal motto, and ability scores. Notes on character history-as presented in the Sunbow cartoon series and Marvel comic books-are complemented by expert commentary on character attributes and popularity on today's secondary market. Current values for all figures in varying condition grades assist collectors in determining the value of their collections.

Collectors, toy dealers, casual fans, and everyone who staged basement battles between the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons need an accurate identification and price guide to decipher the more than 300 G1 Transformers toys produced from 1984-1990. This is the definitive reference for your favorite "Robots in Disguise!"

A must have for any Transformer collector...
Review created: 07/31/09

Mark Bellomo did it again with this one...great photos, stories, details, and insight. I have read some other books similiar in nature to this, but nothing can compare to this one. Bellomo has done his research into each figure, the stories, and the needs of the collector. He is a collector that knows what people are looking for and gives it to you...added with a bit of flair making this book "More than meets the eye!"

Transformers ID and Price guide = AWESOME
Review created: 06/18/09

The "Transformers Identification and Price guide" is an excellent example of the perfect guide book. This book has full color pictures of the toys in robot and alt modes, along with accessories. It even has a small paragraph on each figure, plus tech spec info and mottoes etc. The cover is interesting as well, with the lenticular pictures of G1 Optimus Prime in robot mode, then truck mode, very cool.

I whole heartidly recommend this book to anyone remotely interested in G1 transformers. Its great to use as a price guide, fun to just look through for fun, and great to look over and feel nostalgic about your old toys.

10/10!!!

This was a gift from my wife. It was great to see pictures of the transformers that I remember from my childhood. Great book for reference, but not all transformers are in the book. The repaints are excluded. All in all, if you like transformers or have some old or new ones you are deciding to sell, it is a great reference guide.

  Transformers by Mark Bellomo
Review created: 12/04/07

This is a great book for any collector of these great toys, with bios for all G1 transformers that you might have had, or that you had wanted. I would suggest not to follow the pricing as Transformers are skyrocketing in what people sell them for. I wish Mark would do a newer version that includes Classics,Reissues, and the Movie line.
