Transformers the game is a rushed game tie-in to the spectacular summer blockbuster. What makes it even more pathetic is that the Atari Transformers game released a few years prior on previous gen systems, played better, looked better, and was 10x more fun despite it being based on the new Armada tv shows versus the old classic material. Go try the old Transformers game out, it's a nice gem and a great value since you can probably get it on ebay for $10-20.

Let's keep this review short and stick to the points:


The ability to play as nearly every character from the movie is cool

Playing as decepticons is nice

Gameplay is repetitive and absolutely rushed: Each level is an open sandbox world a la GTA except all you can do in it is smash stuff, collect cubes, and play stupid side fetch games. The openness of the worlds is just not fleshed out, which leads to all the main missions (which take place in the sandbox levels) all the more boring and tedious.

Guns are pointless in this game- nearly every robot has a shield so you just end up running up and punching them

The driving physics are laughable, you can literally make a tight 90 degree turn on nitro by tapping the handbrake.

Collision detection/physics are just a mess- as a car you can get stuck floating on debris or behind junk as you blasting boost to plow through.

Cutscenes are unpolished- the actors from the film look nothing like their screen conterparts.

Smoke and fire particle effects could have been done on PSone.

It's really not fun to bash a game, but there hasn't been a rushed movie game tie-in this bad since Enter the Matrix. It's a shame too, because I loved the movie and the original TV show and enjoyed a game I played 3-4 years ago A LOT more. It was more impressive graphically and gameplay wise too which is ridiculous given that it was 3-4 YEARS AGO! Thank god, I only rented this game. Avoid this one at all costs.

This is definately a 2 day rent-to-beat game. I see no point in buying this game. I just rented it and within under 12 hours of playtime, I beat it. I did not do all the side missions, but the main story does not take too long.

The graphics are great and gameplay is fun. You can play as the Autobots (good guys) or the Decepticons (bad guys). I played the Decipticons' missions first, which made going back to the Autobots' so much easier. One cool feature is the slow-motion when you destroy an opposing bot (kinda like the movie 300). It really makes things look cool. The enviornment is very big and almost everything is fair game. You can even climb buildings and throw cars.. although, there really is too much need for throwing cars.

All in all, great game to rent, missions are pretty fun with great graphics. I spent $4 renting this game for 2 nights and I got all that I wanted out of it. If you liked this review, plese vote "yes" below. Thanks!

The graphics of the game were excellent. It is rated T for Teen so I would recommend you play before letting a younger Transformer fan play. But really, the only problem I see is that it is a robot battle game. My son loved it and advanced through it rather quickly after mastering what buttons to work with. You have the choice to be an autobot or decepticon. Really awesome! I highly recommend to Transformer fanactics!

well i dont have the game and first i heard that it was one of the worst games ever. But then i hear its great. Im not sure if i should keep looking for game cheaper but if i hear more good things about it ill buy it for a high price. I got about 250$ for my birthday and i might just buy it. i watched videos of it on www.youtube.com. it looks great.

I have got this for my hubby for Christmas the kids have one on their DS but wont share with my hubby lol so he will be more than happy to see he has one of his own now lol

i LOVE THE GAME AND I PLAY IT ALL THE TIME. My son and I play it for hours. It's very time consuming. It's one of the best games out there so far. You get to be your favorite character from both Autobots and Decpticons. You get to do very cool moves and get to use the guns they have. You can tinker around to use those moves and guns better.

excellent game-kids love it and i do too-i bought it because the kids are transfomer nuts.this game has great graphics and plenty of action but not so easy to beat.

If you use ever cheat maybe this game has potential to be a crappy game. The handling in the game is weak. You have 3 attacks in the game and only one of them can do damage. The game goes by quick but the final battle against Megatron will do nothing more than leave you with a headache. If you are going to buy this game and try to get gamerscore for it, DONT. Like I said this game can only be partially enjoyed with the cheats. I wasted my money please don't do the same.

Well the game isnt as bad as some people say. Its not the best game out there but it gets the job done. Sometimes the missions are a little confusing and you dont know exactly what to do. As well as when fighting the lock-on feature doesnt always work how you would want it. I find myself trying to pick up cars a lot and never being able to. Its a decent game for how cheap you can get it now. Just dont be expoecting too much out of it.

excellent graphics, the only thing is is it is damn hard lol, but good gaming i have really enjoyed it. would recommend this game to someone that is big into transformers, or any kid at heart..

The basic premise of the game is the same as the film's. The classic Transformers battle between good robots and evil robots has spilled over to planet Earth as the two warring sides search frantically for an artifact known as the AllSpark. The AllSpark is essentially the life force for all Transformers, which explains why they'd want to get it back. Sam Witwicky (voiced with appropriate "gee whiz!"-ness by Shia LaBeouf) is an average teenager who happens to hold the key to finding the AllSpark. From there, it's a race for both sides to find Sam and get the AllSpark. There might be more to the movie's plot than what is presented here, and you should really hope there is, because otherwise, we're all in for one exceedingly boring film. With the exception of a few bouts of basic dialogue between Sam and the various Transformers (including veteran TV series voice actors Peter Cullen and Frank Welker reprising their roles as Optimus Prime and Megatron with about as much enthusiasm as you could hope for), there's almost no story to drive the game forward. In some respects that's not surprising, simply because with this method, almost none of the film is spoiled for you.

on autobots you have to beat an huge iron guy, that i can't do. other than that i'm okay with it. i think other kids would probably like to play it.

This game has very good graphics. Pretty realistic settings. Characters look awesome on the game. Lots of destruction and chaos :) I bought it because I love the transformers. Somewhat follows the movie plotline.

I decided to by it because I liked the movie and the game looked cool.I can't tell you any thing about the game because I never got it from the sorry seller that I bought it from on ebay.
