Transatlantic by Stephen Fox (2004, Paperback, Reprint)

Fox is an intelligent writer of the old style; he tells the facts in a wonderfully engaging way. The book covers a lot of trans-Atlantic history that is not told in most maritime books, and gives some fascinating details right up to the LUSITANIA/MAURETANIA era. This book is far more than a "re-hash" of old information... anyone interested in the early years of steam-powered trans-Atlantic travel needs to pick up a copy of this book and set aside some quality time to read it.
