This GPS unit will out-perform the Garmin and the Tom Tom. I have all types and put them side by side on my dash and the Harman Kardon GPS-500 and 810 are more user friendly. The thing I like best is when you are on a long stretch of highway, the display will zoom out to show a large flat GPS map. When you get close to your next city or next turn it will zoom in and give a close-up view, It is the best. Down side to this unit is, that the company web site needs to be a more friendly site to use. I could not find a good link to update maps.
