Starts with how to prepare your hamster's new home (BEFORE you buy your pet). Gives the basics of hamster care - cage types benefits and downfalls, bedding, what to feed your hamster, potties, nutrition and more. Continues with how to chose and acquaint yourself with your pet and how to start training your hamie. Gives set-up of an outside the cage play palace from the bathtub, to roll around ball, to a playpen with it's own hammie playground! There are even some homemade toys you can make. Covers a lot of issues you encounter with hammie ownership - escapees, gnawing, traveling with your pet and more. Can you leash walk your hamie? Yes, if it's not a dwarf. I found this book in the children's section of the library - but it's a really great book for the adult novice! Really a great book for getting started with life with your chosen pet. There also some additional books, magazine and clubs.
