Peach Meadow Canyon, the best of Louie L'Amour
This is the best Western Story I have ever read. First, Louie L'Amour (himself) tells about gangs in the old West., and then in this particular version on CDs, it is read by actor Robert Stack, who does a wonderful job with the story.
This story is about an outlaw head of a large and successful gang. The leader, Ben, saves a baby boy from a battle, and raises the kid as his own hoping that one day he'll take over the gang. Ben, also has a private life few know about, and has a wife and 2 daughters he keeps in secret.
Somehow the adopted son meets and falls in love with one of Ben's daughters and it gets a bit sticky. There's a bit of dissention in the gang with the adopted son is put in charge of a robbery, but that puts him in conflict with the man who thought HE was going to take over the gang.
It is an exciting story, witha battle over leadership of the gang and a chase through Peach Meadow Canyon.
