Album Notes Personnel includes: Tracy Byrd, Dawn Sears (vocals); Tim Mensy, Pat Flynn (acoustic guitar); Brent Mason, Larry Byrom (electric guitar); Weldon Myrick, Bruce Bouton (steel guitar); Stuart Duncan, Glen Duncan (fiddle); Randy McCormick (piano, keyboard); Pig Robbins (piano); Roy Huskey (acoustic bass); David Hungate (bass); Glen Worf (electric bass); Lonnie Wilson, Eddie Bayers, Owen Hale (drums); Curtis Young, Dennis Wilson, Jerry Salley, Andrea Zonn (background vocals). Tracy Byrd's self-titled debut is an unven but appealing set of new traditionalist country, highlighted by the number one hit, "Holdin' Heaven." On about half of the album's tracks, Byrd sounds confident and skillful, but on the other half, he sounds unsure and timid. Which just means that Tracy Byrd is a promising debut album, not a great one. ~ Thom Owens
