I thought the book was well written and explicit in simple but deceptive theory that one needs to read several times. This is what I like. I respect the author as he is a well known figure in the poker industry and have read his other books. At the end of the book are several exams to see if you are getting the concepts . I would recomment it as good reading

I have to agree with other reviewers about the math; there is a lot. Unless you enjoy the math behind poker I wouldn't recommend picking this book up. It probably won't work for someone who is just looking for strategies. Most of the strategies here are based on probabilities & equations you must do in your head to come up with the right plan of attack.

If you are into poker's math, I haven't seen a better book yet. There are some great advanced ideas here. I doubt I would get as much out of this not having already won some tournaments & played at side tables with skilled players in a variety of games. As the author states, this is NOT for beginners.

If you want to pick up another great book that everyone can benefit from try Doyle Brunson's Super System II. No need to read the first version at this point. I also have enjoyed Phil Gordon's Little Green Book - I have the audio version so I can listen to it repeatedly.

After reading Sklansky's Holdem for Advanced Players, I thought the tournament book would be good. The problem is that it deals with many types of poker games and not just no-limit. If you are looking for a book that deals specifically with no-limit tournament poker, this is not it. Has some good info on tournament strategies in general. Also, the System he describes would not work in online tournaments because blinds increase too often.
