  The Sookie Short Story Collection
Review created: 10/19/09

This isn't exactly the 10th book in the series but a collection of previously published Sookie short stories. Ms. Harris does explain where each story fits into Sookie's life and into the book series. It does contain the short story of One Word Answer which tells the tale of Sookie's first encounter with the Queen and the demise of Hadley, Sookie's cousin. This is a valuable story for after Dead As A Doornail as Definitely Dead is slightly confusing without it.

This is the Charlaine Harris series that inspired HBO's True Blood. Based in the small town or Bon Temps, Louisiana; the series is narrated by Sookie Stackhouse. The books tell her story of discovering not only herself but the supernatural world around her. Charlaine Harris creates her own world of Vampires, Shapeshifters, Faeries and Folklore. HBO's series only begins to touch the magic created by Charlaine Harris.

A Must read for the Sookie fan!!

The book is great for the person that has read all in the collection. This fills in the spots between the books. Like the Hadley dies and the Queen goes to Sookie's house. These are great to read. This is not Book 10 though, this just gives a little more insight to the books that you have already read. Enjoy, I did.

I'm not normally an anthology reader but I enjoy Harris. If you hadn't read the novels, and I've read all nine, I don't think you'd enjoy this book as much. The fifth story seemed out-of-character for Sookie. The author has been very careful not to make her look like a one-night-stand easy character. Fairy grandfather or not, that's how she came across to me in the final story, which I also found to be much too predictable. I liked the rest of the book and read it in a day. It was also short, considering the retail price, but you can't blame an author for making money while their writing is hot.

  Awesome as always from Charlaine!
Review created: 11/05/09

This is an awesome collection of short stories. It lets you in on those little secrets some of the characters. As always with the entire Sookie series, none of this book was a disappointment, well except it was too short. Awaiting more Sookie series!!

  Typical Charlaine
Review created: 10/27/09

I bought this book, because I love the concept of this series; however, I dont' find Charlaine Harris to be a very good author. She has a hard time keeping her facts straight. The most blatant example (because it was in less than a whole page, where most are at least several chapters from each other): in her 5th book, Dead as a Doornail, a lady comes into the bar where Sookie works and says "I just came from your house." and on the very next page Sookie's giving her directions to her house. There are many examples of this where I have to re-read what she wrote to determine if I'm just missing something only to find that she simply contradicted something she wrote earlier. Very little flow...she just kind of jumps from situation to situation without letting the first one sink in and a lot of things happen for no apparent reason, like she doesn't really know how to make it work, but she wants it in there, so she just leaves it hanging out there and the reader's left with a feeling of "Huh?"

This particular book has less to offer than any of her full-length stories, as there is very little substance and a strong sense of stories simply being thrown together in order to make a book.

The book was good, but left the reader wanting more. The book was printed in large print and was full of illustrations , but there just wasn't enough story content. I felt cheated.

A Touch of Dead by Charlaine Harris (2009, Hardcover)
Review created: 10/20/09

TRUE BLOOD SERIES, SOOKIE STACKHOUSE BOOK SERIES, I am very disappointed in the book CHARLAINE released, It consist of few short stories and I feel she should have just waited to put out a REAL book instead of this waste of money. Sorry I bought it and don't advise buying. I actually read half and put it down, the 3rd story is just part of one of the other books she wrote!, and as with all her books she revisits all facts so you getting little story line and more history on characters. I waited for months for this to come out little info was given and it really is a disappointment. I would like to tell the author that myself really.

OH WELL THERE IT IS....

Wasn't what I expected book 10 to be like. It answers so of the unanswered questions about things that were mentioned about in previous books like the fact that Sookie finds out Hadley is finally dead and apparently spoke to the queen of Louisiana. Over all it's a good book to read.
