  A Life of Forgiveness
Review created: 09/07/08

I can't remember why I bought this book except that I had read other books by Kendall and liked them. It is an excellent book for anyone who has had trouble forgiving someone who has hurt them, disappointed them or for anyone who cannot forgive. Kendall goes into detail on how the Lord used another Christian brother in his life who spoke the truth to him about what the Bible says about holding grudges and harboring unforgiveness. This changed Kendall's life and he shares what he has learned about the need to forgive everyone. Unforgiveness is hatred and hatred is murder in God's eyes and the only answer to that is Jesus Christ and the cross where he shed his blood to forgive us - now we are to extend that same grace to even our "enemies". It is only through Jesus that we can have changed hearts to enable us to do this. Kendall has experienced this grace in his life and this book is his story about this life-changing gift of God.

Total Forgiveness by R. T. Kendall

Take a self-affirming look at past encounters or just be honest with present unanswered prayers ... gives understanding what Jesus meant when he said, "If you do not forgive men their sins, neither will your Father forgive your sins." This book provides the secret not just for living the godly life but how to get off the psychiatrist's couch with the added benefit of getting off the doctor's prescription regimen. Forgiveness is disregarded by numerous psychotherapies and we know why from their literature. Once freed from attachments to sin & unforgiveness we find restoration in purpose & in health & no longer need their services.
After listening to an interview between RT Kendall & Tim Clinton of AACC, I purposed to add this publication to my practice in counseling as documentation that total forgiveness is possible & that it works.
