Toshiba DVR660 DVD Recorder / VCR Combo

I purchased this product because it combines a VCR & DVD Player/Recorder in one machine and also included a digital tuner. I have had the unit for nearly two months and it does everything well. It does have one quirk though. When ever I use the timer record function, the clock itself changes to a different time and needs to be reset to show current time after the recording is finished. I can live with this since it was a "buy it now" open box special for over $100 less than MFR list with FREE shipping. This quirk is the reason I am giving it a "GOOD" rather than "EXCELLENT" rating.

Good Product, lots of features, well made. Instruction Manual could be a bit more user friendly but that is a minor thing.

So far so good, haven't tried all the features as yet. Needed a new dvd/vcr for a new Toshiba TV and the price was extremely right. After downloading the manuel off the internet got it up and running in less than an hour (more trouble with surround sound than unit). A great price with free shipping and quick too.

this unit arrived within 6 days was packaged very well but did not contain a manual and is very hard to figure out without it, otherwise seems to be a very good product

I loved this Toshiba, reason is i can connect my TV and record the DVD. I decided to buy from your site, because it is cheaper than another site ebay.. Good product. i thought. thanks again

The unit works great!. I have recorded both VCR and DVD with excellent results. I have also copied VCR to DVD. The unit takes awhile to learn the features. I replaced my old VCR & DVD recorder with this one because it has a tuner in it. Very Please so far.

CANNOT SAY IF ALL ARE AS NOISY AS THIS ONE. FAN RUNS CONSTANTLY, AND IT SOUNDS AS IF THE HARD DRIVE MAY BE SPINNING AS WELL, THIS IS WITH UNIT TURNED OFF, BUT, PLUGGED IN. TO UNPLUG IT BETWEEN USES WILL DISABLE THE TV GUIDE FUNCTION, AND THAT IS IT BEST FEATURE, AND TV GUIDE TAKES 12-24 HOURS TO LOAD SINCE IT READS LOCAL CABLE DATA TO PERFORM AT ALL. TOSHIBA HAS A FLAT RATE REPAIR OF $170 FOR OUT OF WARRANTY DVR'S; AND, HAVE TO SEND IT TO WEST COAST. PICTURE QUALITY, TUNER, HDD OPTIONS ARE ALL QUITE GOOD, USING COMPONENT CABLES WITH IT, NO HDMI OUTLET.

Cheers for Toshiba, they've done it again - made a great machine that's easy to operate, does what it's supposed to do, and isn't temperamental, like some others are. We went through two Sonys, two Panasonics, and one JVC before FINALLY finding a DVD/VCR combo that WORKS without problems. The Sonys are too complicated and run too hot, and eventually develop a hum or squeal and degradation of picture quality. The Panasonics, well, they just don't do anything. They will, maybe, read a pre-recorded disc on the 3rd try. Maybe on the 5th try. Maybe never. Record your own, and they won't finalize. If they do finalize, but they're on a DVD+R, (which is supposed to be acceptable media for the machine) it'll say there's nothing recorded. We lost an entire Twilight Zone collection because of the Panasonics. And customer service? Forget it. There isn't any.

This thing works perfectly. Reads every time. Records. Dubs both ways. Finalizes. No hassles, no temperament, no overheating, excellent picture quality. We're back to Toshiba, and we're staying with Toshiba. Absolutely worthy of a 5-star rating.

It does everything it says. The one thing flawed and annoying is there is no mechanical eject button for the VCR (there's one for the DVD). The eject is only available through the remote.

I AM ABLE TO COPY FROM VHS TAPES TO DVD AND FROM DVD TO VHS.
THE BIG PLUS IS THE BUILT IN DIGITAL TUNER. NO NEED FOR A CONVERTER BOX.

I like the Toshiba DVR660 because it can record on any blank dvd format as well as play any and record videotapes. The options using it are great.
