I just wanted something that would be easy to set up and use right away, and that is what I got with this Toshiba. No worries about special DVD's, it uses the same as my computers. The Up-conversion is nice, very clear and enjoyable picture even from older DVD movies.
It doesn't have a tuner or some of the bells and whistles some of the others have, but for my use it is very straight forward and easy to understand....does the basic jobs well.

I bought this recorder about a month ago as a Christmas gift. The person I gave it to was very please with how it handled and with the ease of operation. I'm very pleased with the purchase. We have had no problems with the recorder.

  Great DVD recorder
Review created: 12/04/08

I am in the process of transferring years of VHS (family movies of children and now grandchildren) to DVD.
Earlier this year I purchased a Memorex DVD recorder. After using it a few times it did not record correctly. When it quit recording all together, I emailed the company. Since the warranty was just up, they said they would fix it for a reduced cost. The "cost" was more than the original price of the recorder! So I looked online and found this Toshiba DR410 DVD recorder. It was priced right, and I love it! Works fine and I would certainly recommend it to anyone.

  Great DVD Recorder & Upconverter
Review created: 12/09/08

We got a good deal on this Toshiba DVD Recorder & Upconverter. Our last DVD Recorder got fried in a bad storm, so we had no way to burn anything. We had looked around and we wanted an Upconverter for our movie collection that would look fantastic on our 40" Samsung TV, and this unit is awesome! The quality and ease of use are fantastic. No complaints here, what a great buy on this 2 in 1 on eBay! We highly recommend!

DVD's are easy to store and last longer then other recording media. One button record and can record up to 8 hours on one disk. Never rent a movie again, just record it off your cable or sat. Once recorded you can put your own label on the blank DVD disks I use. You can put all your home/private photos on one disk. I believe all media will be DVD format soon.

Worked great from the day I opened it! Very happy with it. It recorded from my camcorder as well as my vcr. The picture was clear and crisp. I enjoy the fact that the instructions were easy to read "PRINTED IN ENGLISH" and not confusing. Overall the player works just like I hoped it would.

A great DVD recorder but lacking a built in tuner so you can record TV programs. When my D-R410 stopped working Toshiba replaced it with a brand new unit without any hassles.

OPINION -- The Toshiba DR410 DVD Recorder
Review created: 02/09/09

The HDMI connector makes this a snap to hook up. NO jumble of cables to get into the right place. Plenty of Dolby out puts for speakers. As with most electronics, the manual was writen by a tech writer that expects you to be one too. A little trial and error and you'll be alright. All in all. quality is some of the best. A good performing recorder-player. I paid $42.50, worth it.

Does everything that it is supposed to.

DVD+R and DVD-R disks created on this recorder play on all 5 DVD players that I have tried.

Somewhat technical to setup. The manual is long and detailed. Read it to avoid disappointment.

Recordable DVDs must be "Finalized" before they will play on other DVD decks. This is true for all DVD recorders.

Wanted a good basic DVD recorder to copy some tapes and record off a satallite TV box. This machine does what it says it does, works great, can utilize all types of discs and has been very reliable. It probably has more features then I'll ever use, (such as editing etc..)

The clock and face panel lights are small and very hard to read unless your sitting right in front of it.

  Toshiba Recorder
Review created: 12/22/09

Works great! I personally purchased this player so that I could transfer a handful of vhs videos that have no dvd release, as well as some home recordings. For my needs, and what I wanted it to do, this machine has worked wonderfully.

The initial hookup to get playback was simple enough, although I had to 'play' with my connections for a while in order to get the signal going in the right direction for dvd recording off the vcr (no fault of the machine, I just have to many devices wired and rigged through my television).

Once I mastered the hookup and the settings (again, simple enough - if I can do it it's a good bet that a well behaved chimpanzee could do it), the transfer results were fantastic. My television, A DVD player (not blue-ray mind you), An original Xbox, and an older model vcr running through two rf-modulators. This system plays and records fine for me.

Oh, and my cable line is direct, no set top box or anything like that. This unit was also purchased used from Amazon. For me it does the job and was a great buy.

  Toshiba Recorder
Review created: 12/03/09

This is the thrid Toshiiba DVD recorder I've brought. The first two were DR 400, as this one is a DR 410. The 410 is also the same as the 400, just a few added features. I hae had several dvd recorders over the years, but for myself the Toshiba DR 400 & 410 model have been the best for my use. I have never had any problems and they do everything that I need for them to do. Read the features and specs. for these unit's and know that they do everything it says they will.
