Toshiba 19HLV87 19 in. HDTV/DVD Combo

I do not know if the company is honest or not, but after 15 days I had to contact them to ask where the TV was, and why after paying for it I did not have it. I was told it was on the way to their shipping point, where ever that was? Then after 22 days, and no further communication from the "highly listed" ebay seller I still did not have my 19" HD Toshiba TV. I was very angered by the lack of communication, and that an ebay company is allowed to do what they did. Apparently they did not have the TV in their possession or in stock in their warehouse when the advertised it for sale (buy me price)! I found the company a bit elusive and somewhat dishonest acting in this manner. Down right illegal is what I think it is. Could you get away advertising something for sale when you do not even own it (OK the Brooklyn Bridge is the exception), and then sell it, collect the money and for over 20 days do not deliver it or even communicate with you buyer?? WOW

Yes they were sorry but I feel they were treading on deceptive practices.

Yes I got a full refund. By the time I did the TV was on sale at Circuit City for about $30 over the buy it now price they listed.

Bought this TV/DVD combo a few weeks ago as a replacement to a 13" tube TV for my kitchen. I don't watch a lot of TV, so just wanted a basic flat screen LCD HDTV for watching news and to listen to some CDs.

TV performs very well overall with both cable and DVD/CD playback. I have not experienced any problems with the device itself. Sound qualify for all features is good.

My complaints are about the manual and the remote control.

The manual is poorly written. Took me a lot of time (about 30 minutes) to figure out how to program the it. Connected it to a coax output from the basic TW Cable connection. Turned it on, nothing happened. The manual as well as the on screen menu were not user friendly. After much struggling and patience, I was finally able to figure things out. Prior to purchasing this Toshiba, I thought the most difficult TV to program was a Sony Wega I purchased a few years ago but I was incorrect. Toshiba takes the cake with regard to difficult programming. I don't consider myself an electronic illiterate so this set up was a challenge.

The remote control isn't bad but is IMHO too big for the size of the TV/DVD device and has a dizzying array of not well marked buttons. For instance there is one called "shuttle" which doesn't do anything obvious and its difficult to know what it means. There is also a button that you would think changes something related to audio but nothing happens when you push it.

One nice feature which is unit has, and which is not on all units, is a VGA connection for pc or computer equipment which is another reason I purchased the unit as I occasionally want to show someone something from my laptop and the 19" screen is bigger and easier to view than my 15.4" laptop screen.

For the money, I feel like I got a bargain.

In summation I'm not disappointed with the product, but there are some elements that could be better.

I rate this product 3.5 stars because of the manual and the difficult remote.

I bought this tv to install in my daughters room. I like the fact that it's wall mountable. I love the picture quality, very sharp. I find it very easy to use. My daughter is 7 & she can use it with ease. I would highly recommend this tv to anyone.

I gave it as a gift to my wife and she totally loves it. Plays DVD's easier than ever as its built into the side of the unit. We bought by name and price and found this unit was the best for us. I highly recomment this TV.

I DID ALOT OF RESEARCH ON A LOT OF TV/DVD COMBO'S. I ALWAYS CAME BACK TO THE TOSHIBA FOR ITS AWESOME PICTURE, GREAT SOUND ABOUT HAVING THE BUILT IN DVD PLAYER WAS A MUST. IT TAKES UP LESS ROOM HAVING IT ALL IN ONE. THE PRICE HAD A LITTLE TO DO WITH GETTING IT TO. BUT ALL N ALL ITS THE BEST TV I HAVE EVER HAD. IT WAS MOUNTED IN OUR RV USING A SWIVEL WALL MOUNT AND IT IS JUST THE RIGHT SIZE (19IN). IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A GREAT DEAL AND A GREAT PRICE THIS IS THE TV/DVD YOU SHOULD GET. HAPPY SHOPPING.

We needed an HDTV for the kitchen to replace a "tube" style purchased only 2 yrs ago. Not only is it thin and lightweight, but the HD picture and sound are excellent whether on cable or right out of the air. We bought an HDMI cable (for under $5) and reception is even better. Besides that, the DVD player runs beautifully. Highly recommend for kitchen or for entertainment next to your computer monitor (I think it can be USED as a monitor, which I don't plan on right now). This is a great buy.

Received the TV but when I turned on the power, the screeen was too dark and remote control function was strange.

Requested RMA for refund and almost immediately received RMA number. Thanks for the timely release of RMA and refund

The TV itself is beautiful; but we CAN NOT USE IT!! This TV/DVD Combo came with nothing in the box except the TV. There was NO Owner's Manual, Warranty Card, or Remote Control; all of which was to be included as per Ebay Auction description. The TV can not be programmed or setup without the Remote Control. I purchased this TV in November for a Christmas gift for my daughter, she opened it on Christmas Day and was not able to use it!!!! Now it is February 5th and still can not use it!!!!!!!!! Poor customer service from Toshiba!

I first contacted the Seller and they gave me the phone number for Toshiba Customer Service. I place my complaint/request around December 28, 2007. After a couple I received nothing, so I called Toshiba again, they finally sent me the Owner's Manual; without the Remote Control or Warranty. My daughter still can not use the TV. I called Toshiba twice and contacted Seller several times since then and was told the Remote Control is on backorder.

This was a Christmas gift for my daughter...she is still unable to use the TV. I am very, very disappointed!!

We enjoy the size, the fact that it has a DVD Combo and last but not least it was a GREAT PRICE. Also I HATE shopping so when I could got such a wonderful, quality, deal on EBAY...I was thrilled. All in all it is a cost-effective way to go. I would never hesitate to do it again.

Needed a b-day gift for my 13 yr old daudhter. She had an old tv/vhs in her room, and it was time to upgrade. I found this set on E-bay and for the price, could not pass it up. The color, sound, and overall performance of this unit is superb! worked perfectly right out of the box, and the 19 inch size is perfect for her room. Being a flat panel saves so much space. Toshiba is a name to be trusted in electronics, and for the money, a great buy.

The television I bid on was no longer available so this seller actually upgraded me to a better and more expensive model with no charge. This television came in a matter of days and was in perfect new condtion and had every feature I wanted. Very clear picture. Totally satisfied.

The color is brilliant, the sound is wonderful, the volume has a wide range (good for us older folks :o), and the DVD player is perfect. This tv/dvd is in my office where it's "on" 12-14 hours per day! My previous set in this room was also a Toshiba, which eventually led me to shop for the same brand. This is a favorable review. Great product. Picture is incredible next to my older CRT television. I had no idea how many over the air high definition broadcasts there are in my area. Since this Toshiba television also receives the analog transmissions you can compare it to digital broadcasts...wow! Clean lines, it looks good in our bedroom. My two criticisms are that the remote is another array of dual function buttons that I am getting use to and the on screen menu is very small. I have to be right in front of the television to see the small font of the screens. These are minor complaints and I would purchase the product, and use this seller again.

When it was time to get 5 new tv's for my resort I could not even immagine a trip to the local retail store close to 100 miles away. I sat down in front of my computer hoping I would find an eBay member selling bulk tv's. I was fortunate enough to find the Toshiba 19HLV87 with a DVD!
