Arrested and sentenced to at least 14 years in a prison for smuggling Bibles into a communist country and teaching people that Jesus died for their sins and if they ask Him to forgive them, He will and they can go to Heaven. Thousands in those countries wanted this message brought to them. They put him in a cell loaded from the top without light and the guards would urinate and crap on him. Through the inner peace he had recieve from his close walk with Jesus, he learned thier language, sang hymns to them and through time and over the years, many of the prison guardds, so overwelmed by his compassion for them were taught that Jesus loves them and died for their sins as well. They became new creatures in Christ through the acceptance of Jesus' forgiveness and were changed and humbled men. Richard knew in is hear that God had placed him right there because he loved those prison guards so much, they saw and accepted. Words cannot describe the torture and I am only touching on a small part of the book. I had the priveledge of meeting him in person in the 1980's before he went to heaven and he was not angry and had no regrets about what he had gone through. He was tourtured so Christ's message of forgiveness could be heard and that was fine by him.
