Tomtom GO 720 T Handheld GPS Receiver

Love bluetooth, mapshare, fast tracking
Dislikes map sometimes off and customer support takes 1 hour 30 minutes to get through


I read reviews for hours on the top 3 GPS units and they all have flaws. Most the complaints on tomtoms 720 were due to mainly people do not understand the settings or think they do. Want better sound through radio turn tomtoms volume up 10 percent it sounds way better. Try different channels too. Battery life to short turn down the brightness to 30 percent and turn off bluetooth and or FM to stereo thats power hungry stuff there. Complaints of no voice to text is because its not for USA its only for European models it states it clearly. You cant hear the GPS clearly turn down the volume or up if its low. Screen not great in sun? maybe you are in night mode? or turn up brightness. I have no problems in day time. Phone issues wont connect to bluetooth? you have to set phone settings too discover bluetooth as well. Not all phones are compatible but I have hooked up nearly every current sprint phone to work the hands free option and the phone books all downloaded easily. Word of advice before you do anything go to tomtom home page download my tomtom and back up your tomtom before you tinker and delete all the needed files. If you buy a new tomtom even off ebay you get the free 30 day may guarantee to the most current map so you will be current. If you buy a brand new never opened or a factory unopened seconds you get free map upgrade if there is a new map, and you get the 1 year warranty from tomtom they will replace your unit if defective in first 30 days with a brand new unit after 30 days its a factory reconditioned unit. I bought mine off eBay and it had a defect but no big deal seeing only tomtom honers eBay sellers as dealers... the other GPS companys will NOT honor eBay claims. Tomtom even paid all shipping costs all I had to do was print the Fedex shipping label. People need to read more and complain less.
I did have 10 days I used my tomtom and when it worked out of about 30 times of use there was 2 wrong directions but no big deal seeing I did not even have the latest map yet. I did like the super fast route calculations though when I purposely passed my turn. For thouge who go to your local store to check them out before you buy please be aware that sometimes the store has dummy ones that dont work as I see a lot of complaints that one does not work in a building. Thats because its a fake one with working menus...
For the pice and the features I think the 3 top selling GPS units are equal in flaws. Tomtom holds about 5 million POI none are starbucks but I myself do not need a GPS to find a coffee shop that is on every corner. There is plenty of Wal-mart stores and notice how I spelled it... thats the trick to find them. I love my tomtom 720 but then again I understand how to work my Tomtom. Thats the key thing is to know what your doing. So I hope that I have given some a better understanding of the features like theres an icon on the 4th or 5th screen of prefrences there is an icon that says show more icons or it will read show few icons... you want to see all the icons there will be 8 pages when its open. You need to set all you prefrences in every screen, and shortest route does not mean in miles but in time too. You have the option to demo the route and you can watch on you GPS unit the route you will take if its wrong try another option. Good luck I love mine.
