I brought the movie because I have come to admire Richard Long's work.
I had seen some of his other movies . I was interested in the very first,
right out of high school movie. Claudette Colbert and Orson Welles
are very talented actors ,whom I had not seen too much of, so it was
an added attraction. Richard Long later teamed again with Colbert in
"The Egg and I" and Welles in "The Stranger".Natalie Wood was in her
second movie as a little orpan girl that Welles brings to America.
I liked the story lines. First Welles as the "dead" husband who returns
to America to find his wife remarried . He also sees the son he never knew
about. Colbert wants to finds out the truth about Welles .He is trying not
to tell her.The second story line was Long as the young man who wants
to join the service and go to war. Being under age he can't go without
his parents consent. Colbert refuses to give permission.
Things work out for the best. I highly recommend this movie .

VHS tape of movie, Tomorrow is Forever
Review created: 10/01/07

I purchased this tape because my mother wanted me to see the movie; it had been a favorite of hers. The movie conveyed many emotions, taking place between WWI & WWII and involved family matters, young love, pros & cons of war, and caring enough to live in denial. I enjoyed both the acting and the thought provoking subject matter. Many of life issues we face today were in this oldie. It was not like some movies that you have figured out within the first 5 minutes. In fact, twice I had to rewind to have key information repeated. With most of TODAY'S movies, I find myself thinking I could shorten them by at least half due to dragging on and or stupid content. NOT this one. Instead, I found myself wishing there was more-every scent counted, building toward the plot. I believe it was produced this way on purpose to allow the viewer to use their own brain and inagination- something left out of most of our modern movies. Ever read a book, then see it made into a movie differently than the story read? This movie allowed the viewer to "read" into or out of the pertinent content. I found myself wanting to know more of the story or better yet daydream my add on.

  Tomorrow is Forever

I love this movie about individual sacrifice after WWI nearly devastated a family. Wells and Colbert both deserved the Academy Award as individuals willing to suffer for the sake of those they loved. The movie proved true to it's title, although mentioned only once in dialogue: Forget the pass, we can never get it back, but Tomorrow is Forever. Although the theme is totally positive, I feel the ending was too abrupt. An additional 10 minutes could have been used to mourn the painful death of such a loving person. Brent, as usual, was an excellent supporting actor, and little Natalie Wood proved to be the icing on the cake in her Austrian role. Being interested in exhibiting such self-sacrificing qualities, I had to include this movie in my library.

I love this movie, and saw it on TCM, but getting copies of old movies is very hard to do. This was a great experience and am wondering if you can help me find another hard to find - If I Were Free with Irene Dunne. I have looked all over and absolutely not one copy to be had. Thanks for this great shopping experience.
