Insane but great

A must for all Who fans, but any fan of good rock music will like the film, my wife has never heard much of the Who's music but she liked it.
This is a rather crazy adaptation of the Townshend masterpiece, Ken Russell is an oddball director but the music is so fantastic it all somehow works, there is no dialogue at all, every word is sung, making this an opera rather than a musical. There are many star turns, Tina Turner is amazing, her version of Acid Queen is probably one of my favorite bits of the film, but Eric Clapton, Elton John and many others are all there (and I don't like either of them and still enjoyed it!). Ollie Reed can't sing but his charisma carries him through in a Rex Harrison sort of way, and who wouldn't pay to see Anne Margaret roll about in chocolate? She is really great and carries the film for the most part.
I saw this as an underage kid bunking into the cinema in Streatham in London when it first came out, and the DVD was a very nostalgic experience, not a classic film but good fun for quality rock fans.
While the film is great the disk itself is the only letdown, there are some extras like bios, but it is very poor and badly done, I don't know if there is a better version but the one I have is a let down for fans in that department.
The only reason to buy this is for the film itself, the disk is disapointing.
