Tomb Raider Underworld (Playstation 3, 2008)

I have been waiting for sooooo long since I heard that it was coming out. I bought the strategy guide and hardly used it (believe it or not) cuz I'm REALLY good at puzzles and finished the game in 2 days. I still have to go back and find the rest of the secrets and relics but I LUV this game. Lara really can do soooo much more things than she could in the pervious games and that's all I'm saying. I don't wanna give away anything for those who don't have it yet. But you will be shocked by things that happen throughout. Happy gaming friends!

I've been a Tomb Raider fan since the first day I played it back when I was a child. It was the first game I've ever played and I fell in love immediately and have been committed to it ever since. Of course back then the graphics were "slightly" different compared to the amazing sight seeing in this game and very improved new moves that Laura has acquired.
What's not to love?

did not like the game. i gave it to one of my friends. if you enjoyed the series get this game but if not try to find something else.

NOT FIVE MINUTES INTO THE GAME AND I WAS COMPLETELY BLOWN AWAY THE GRAPHICS ARE UNBELIEVABLE...RIGHT FROM THE START I WAS TERRIFIED AND EXCITED ALL AT ONCE I EVEN SCREAMED WHEN AN UNEXPECTED SNAKE SLITHERED OUT IN FRONT OF ME WHILE SWIMMING ....THERE WAS SHARKS AN JELLY FISH... AND A HUGE OCTOPUS... I REALLY CANT WAIT TO PLAY MORE... IVE ALWAYS LOVED TOMB RAIDER GAMES BUT HONESTLY THIS ONE TAKES THE CAKE...CHARACTER MOVEMENT IS VERY SMOOTH... MUCH BETTER CAMERA TOGGLING AND LAURAS GOT SOME NEW MOVES UP HER SLEEVE AS WELL... ALL AROUND AWESOME GAME..OH AND DID I MENTION WE CAN SHOOT THE GUNS UNDER WATER NOW...NICE VERY NICE LOL... IF YOU LIKE TOMB RAIDER YOU WILL FALL IN LOVE WITH THIS GAME I SURE DID!!!!!!!

I've played the entire Tomb Raider series, and am happy to say that the gameplay and graphics of this latest installment are above and beyond anything you've seen before. I am greatly displeased with the fact that you can not go back and play the individual chapters/levels though without restarting the game. I've always loved being able to play my favorite parts over again trying to find all the secrets. I'm also not surprised to see that the same glitch problems that have plagued the series since it's inception have not gone away. If you've played before you will not be surprised, if it's your first go at tomb raider you might be a bit annoyed.

this game has some of the best puzzles and the game play is great you can climb and drive a motorcycle

Lots to do and figure out. Hours of fun, grand kids love it. No boardem here. Thanks a bunch. Oh yea, no real violance, good for kids.

I bought Tomb Raider Underworld for my collection. After playing the first Tomb Raider I was hooked. This one is better than expected.
There is more detail and new action challenges. The detail on the PS3 is great. New obsticals and puzzles make you think, and adds to the excitement of the game.
With the superior capabilities and High Definition graphics of the Play Station 3, Tomb Raider "Underworld" is a great challenge.

The puzzle solving and graphics are stunning. Best in series and a must for those who enjoyed the origionals. The only drawback is that occasionaly the camera angle and your direction of jump change just when you think you will hit your target, most frustrating! Overall it is a great game and lots of areas to explore.

This game is awesome. The backround is so stunningly detailed that its hard at times not to stare off into the landscape. The story is a great sequel to the previous installment, immersed in mythology and lore from all over the world.
One thing I really liked that others dont is the fact that the classic mansion in which you can explore and find a number of useless things, its been destroyed. Some people werent happy about this but i for one am sick of exploring this useless area of the game, ben there done that. Instead of a mansion Laura travels the world on her boat only going to the mansion once just in time to see it destroyed.
I bought this game as soon as i could(had to get a ps3 first) to find answers to the last installment of the tomb raider series, which were found in this game, along with more questions. I do highly recomend this game to anyone, just make sure you play Tomb raider legend first to avoid conffusion.

I Gave it a three star becuase the graphics are impressive. However, the story and gameplay was very weak.

First off, let me start with the glitches. the whole game is a one big glitch party. Lara can get stuck in places. you can die but your ride could be left in an area where you can't go back to. everytime you load back to a game point, if you've killed an enemy, sometimes they appear but suddenly die as if the game suddenly remembered that you killed it.

There are TOO many secrets in this game. Lara can find one in the corner, then take 5 steps and find another one. there are at least 20 to 50 in a level and they are at VERY obvious places. so there's really no point to having them. Plus the only thing they unlock is pictures, no cutscenes, no extra items or clothes, just pictures.

Lara does not have much to choose from when it comes to weapons or outfits, becuase at the very beginning of each level, it will give you a choice between two outfits (same outfits over and over) and maybe 4 to 5 weapons.

after the game is done, you can't reply any levels. the only way you can go back to the desired place, is to play from point one ----> the very beginning and work your way up.

You kill the same things over and over and over, spiders, bats, thralls, goons. almost on every level, thats about it.

Lara's mansion blows up, but they could have given us the option to play the Mansion level, where we could just walk around or something. you don't get to see much of it.

Okay, on with the story. This tomb Raider is about Lara getting closure about her mother disappearing for almost 40 years. Lara doesnt really expect her mother to be alive, she just wanted to understand what happened. but near the end, when she finds Ameilia, her mother standing near the edge in the underworld, she comes to find that her mother is dead and that she's just walking shell in the form of a Thrall. some suspect that she must have accidentally touched or fell into the Thrall poison or was probably attacked by one. but anyway, the thing that really disappointed me, was the fact that THAT little moment lasted less then a minute. When her mother seemed to be unresponsive but instead savage-like, Lara shoots her off the edge and thats the last you will see of her mother. After all Lara's work, she comes to a less-than-a-minute reunion with her mother. They could have had Lara charged at her and press down on the ground and tried yelling at her concious to see if she would recognize her own daughter. only half of her body appeared to be infected, plus she looked far different from the rest of the thralls.

The ending is pretty averaged, however they cut out the ending where Lara leaves Amanda for dead. So i'm guessing thats a sign that mabye Amanda will appear in the last one or both future Tomb Raider games.

overall, i quite disappointed. i wasted 50+ bucks when i could have just rented it.

Tomb Raider Underworld was a long awaited game for Tomb Raider Fans. First the games story can drag you in but i don't want to spoil anything on that topic. The graphics are descent but most people who play games expect good graphics. But the game does have some down falls. The shooting system in the game feels somewhat buggy i did not like it. Also some slow down frame rate issues in some parts of the game. Overall Tomb Raider fans would probbly like this game.

Pros: Descent graphics, Story Line, Action, Makes You Think

Cons: Weird Auto Aim Shooting System, Frame Rate Slow Down

excellent game from the tomb raider choicles, from the strat to the end everlasting action and to bring thor into the game was an added bonus.

All I can say is WOW this game is awesome it beats out any RPG I have ever played and it's not even a RPG lol, this game is better then any game out there, I sold this game was awesome!!! 10 out of 10!!

I love, love, love this game!! I really feel that Tomb Raider Underworld is the best in the Raider series. The graphics are out of this world. The plot and background story is very interesting and whether you're a first time Raider or a veteran to the series or anywhere in between: you must buy it/play it! Its the best; hands down :)

This game should have got a 10, Graphics and Action is just awesome, I have always loved Tomb Raider, This just topped them all. I just started the game so I can't go into that much detail. Excellent. A must own game.
