Everything that had become stale and dated about the series by it's third or fourth outing (nevermind the fifth and sixth) has been fixed here! Borrowing from other great action games (that built on ideas from the original Tomb Raider), Lara is back and is actually fun to play!!! Graphics are solid with great effects, plenty of variety and challenging puzzles. Only setback is that it's short - about 6 hours the first time through - half that the second time!

This game was the best game i had everplayed out of the thousands of games i played in my lifetime. i give this game a 10 out of 10 because the graphics the sound controlling was easy for me. i hate the shooters where you have to aim where as this one all you have to do is point and shot. basicly automatic aiming. i don't care what anyone says about thuis game this is my fav. even though i haven't beaten it yet and thats because i don't own it. i borrowed my friend's PS2 and rented it and only made it half way through the game. i didn't want the PS2 to over heat but i will be buying it for the PC. this game ROCKS no matter what system you play it on. and i did play allitle bit of it on the 360.

this is rwmfleming signing off.

see ya

Tomb Raier: Legend - Get it on eBay or Rent it
Review created: 07/17/06

A long standing fan of the Tomb Raider series, Tomb Raider: Legend – the latest installment to date – was a moderately enjoyable, and short, experience.

The color and the frame rate on this game are amazing, and the big world environments cannot be done justice on other systems as it was on the 360. As to be expected, Tomb Raider: Legend, like its predecessors, had big puzzles with big cut scenes to follow. The puzzles, if familiar with the other games in the series, are familiar with their own new spin of difficulty.

The fighting and action in this game was below mediocre, and there was little challenge in the in level fighting. I died more due to missed jumps than the bad guys in the game, which leads me to my next grievance. The camera work in this game is bad, and cannot be relied upon to judge critical jumps at key points of the game. Still lacking the player in mind, the camera benefits the round more than anyone. Still with all of the dying, this was not a difficult game.

The most difficult part of this game was collecting all of the in round achievements, which took more time than beating the game. This gamer beat the game in three sittings… THREE SITTINGS - and not for exurbanite amounts of time!

A the technology of gaming increases, budgets and game lengths will continue to shorten due to studio costs and persistent deadlines, and Tomb Raider: Legend falls victim here. This game had a GREAT ENDING (compared to recent games I played), though was not worth buying due to in game issues and sheer length.

My recommendation is you either get this game cheap on eBay or rent it for a week, other than that, it is not worth the $59.99+tax price point.

Did you like the puzzles of the Tomb Raiders of the past. This game gives you all of that with a serious upgarde in graphics. Definitely a fun game and new additions keep the interest high... The story line is a little weak but the constant action make up for it.

  Laura Looking Better Than Ever
Review created: 05/13/06
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

This is a great installment and revival of a great game with a long life. Laura in next gen has never looked better. The producers have corrected many of the problems with control and camera that were in the last game.

The game is not very long, but is a great ride while it lasts. Fans of Tomb Raider or anyone looking for a fun action game that looks great, should play through at least once.

There are unlockable outfits, weapons, etc if you go back and replay the levels on a timed basis.

In short, this is a fun game for teens and up.

Tomb Raider: Legend follows the exploits of Lara Croft as she tries to solve the mysteries of her past. Specifically, she's investigating the death of her mother several years earlier. One thing leads to another and somehow the legend of King Arthur becomes involved, along with a magical sword that has been broken into fragments and scattered throughout the world. The story is barely coherent, but it serves its purpose in that it gives Lara an excuse to travel from one exotic locale to the next in search of these artifacts. The game takes you to places such as Ghana, Peru, Tokyo, England, and Kazakhstan, and all of the locations look great. And while Lara sticks mostly to tombs and ruins, she also spends time exploring a deserted research facility, hopping about atop skyscrapers, and shooting up bad guys in a rustic village. The variety of levels is great, although you'll end up seeing pretty much the same platforming and box-pushing puzzles wherever you go. The puzzles in Tomb Raider: Legend can be a bit deceptive at first, but once you learn how the game works, the puzzles become very simple. Most of the game is spent solving basic switch puzzles as you work your way through each level in search of the next artifact. Aside from dragging around boxes to weigh down switches or jam traps, there are a lot of fun platforming sections that let you take full advantage of Lara's affinity for high-flying acrobatics. You can hang on ledges, swing on ropes, swing between platforms (via a magnetic grapple), and vault off conveniently placed beams. The controls are a lot more fluid and responsive than they have been in previous Tomb Raider games, which makes Lara movements feel much more natural than before. The controls are precise, but not punishingly so. You often only have to jump in the general direction of the next platform and the game will compensate by automatically connecting Lara to the intended surface. Once you get the hang of it you can effortlessly overcome even the most imposing obstacles without difficulty. It's also always abundantly clear which ledges you can hang on or jump between, so the only challenge is positioning the camera so you can see where you're trying to go, which can be frustrating. In tight spots it can be difficult to get a good view of the ledge you need to jump to, and sometimes it's easy to misjudge a jump if you don't have the camera aligned just right. The camera problems are intermittent though, and most of the time you have a fairly good view of the surroundings. And even though the platforming is fairly easy, it's still satisfying thanks to some great-looking animations and level designs that convey an excellent sense of peril. Of course, Lara is skilled with weapons and is more than willing to serve up some hot lead when the situation calls for it. You'll have to shoot up plenty of generic enemy goons and a few leopards here and there. You can lock on to an enemy by holding a button, and then you mash the fire button until the enemy is dead. You can also throw grenades, as well as perform slide tackles or aerial assaults. When you run up to an enemy, you can jump off his head and flip through the air in slow motion while shooting him. It's a neat effect, but not especially useful or necessary, since it takes more time to get in close to an enemy than it does to just blast him from afar. Sometimes you can shoot at certain objects in the environment, which are clearly indicated with a large button icon. Y

A very playable game, its a great game.

This game is very playable, I think anyone can play this game, everything in it seems to balance out a little bit, the puzzles, the obstacle courses, controls and camera. There are some areas where the camera angle doesnt help in the game but overall I think this is a good title to play.

I think this game is relatively easy to playthrough and the highest difficulty is a little challenging. Despite difficutly settings of the game, the puzzles are still the same, unchanged which is a good thing. The only thing that changes in difficulty is Laras health and the enemy health which means the player still has to be good at jumping, scaling and so forth on obstacles.

This is a good title and has replayability.
Also this game has a download of "Anniversary" worth an additional 250 achievement points.
Basically finish levels, complete in hard mode and all items collected.
Total cost is 2400 points, two parts 1200 points each for eps 1 & 2 and eps 3 & 4. I think Legend is a great game, if you feel its too hard or wierd I suggest playing Anniversary first then play Legend. There is a marked difference in camera and controls, Legend in my opinion plays better.

Very impressed with the new game. Everything's here. It's definitely fun. The platforming is great, gunplay is pretty easy but still solid. And the levels look beautiful.

This is exactly the game we all started playing with the original and its sequel. That is to say, this current episode completely returned to its roots, which is where all its fame came from in the first place. Level designs, movement, weapons, and interactive landscaping all help in building this as the best Tomb Raider ever. Unlike the previous installment, I'm sure I'll be holding on to this one, putting it into my permanent collection...

I look forward to the next Tomb Raider game for once.

This Tomb Raider was awesome! great graphics, great sound, and a good story. The only downside I can really find about this game is the length. I finished the story in about 5 hours. Now I don't sit down and play games for hours upon hours so usually games seem like they are a good length, but this one seemed short even though I only play the 360 for a couple hours a day.

The Graphics are great. Awesome blur effects and it has a good environment. The sound is well done too. Story was a well put together one unlike the last Tomb Raider.

Bottom line is if you are even a small tomb raider fan this one is a MUST to own or rent.

Game was fun but there are some downsides........
Review created: 06/22/06
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I don't have too many 360 games so i picked this one up on eBay for 35 bucks.
The game does a good job of puzzle solving and gameplay is fun and dosn't get to repetitive. The only problem is you can beat the game in 6-7 hours. Other downsides like collision detection sometimes ain't that great, for instance you jump from the ledge to grab the rope, lara jumps right in front of it but dosn't grab the rope then you fall and die ;(

Burned me up alot on tht note. Another downside is that if you enemy isn't close enough you gun will fire in totally retarded directions. I know your probably thinking, well a gun can't be that accurate. Trust me, at 20 feet away the bullets shouldn't stray 5 feet away from the target.

One of the coolest element of the game to me was it's interactive cutscenes. You have your normal cutscene but when lara is escaping something your prompted to push certain buttens in sequence to dodge, jump or roll. Although the randomness of these cutscenes may catch you off guard and you may fall to your doom.

There are some cool unlockables but some were too hard to get that they may not be worth your while. You find rewards in levels to unlock them. There's the croft mansion like previous tomb raider games where you can run around your house and discover secrets. The game shows some intresting levels and the story is kinda confusing. Theres sort of a hint of da vinci code in the "King Arthur's Tomb?" level. Don't attempt the time trials the're impossible. I'll say this, Tomb Raider: Legend IS a fun game, but also a quick one. I suggest you buy it for 35 to 45 bucks on eBay rather then settling for the 50 to 60 dollar price tag.

This game excels in so many ways it really brought the franchise back.
The story is intriguing and fun to watch unravel.
The levels are long and involving and the addition of Max Payne like slow mo to some kils was great.
The physics and framerate are much better than predecessors so of course even though the game is on the 360 your movements are also very fluid and a little less forgiving than past tomb raiders.
I have seen the PC version and the 360 version and I must say I like the 360 one more than my PC.
The game is about 8 to 10 hours through if you race through it and do the game as fast as possible for me it took about 20 hours or so to get through.
Then even when you are done you can look for extras in the mansion as well as try to 100% the game which I am currently doing.
So far this is my favorite game on the 360 and definately beats Kameo as the best action adventure out there now.

This game is too easy and too short. It requires no thinking on the players part; whenever you get to a point that would normally be challenging, the buttons you need to press are shown on the screen. This game is a waste of money.

I stated before that I would inform you how I liked or disliked this game. Finally I played it and so far I like what I see. The water scenery and detail is impressed. I like the Lara Croft character. I am currently trying to find a way to scale to the top of the 1st level. The lara character is well made and action packaged. This game will challenge your skills and test your ability enabling Lara to succeed at each level. I am looking forward to completing the first level and pursue new levels. I will keep you informed as to my progress.

Overall I am satisfied with my purchase. I believe Lara Croft Tomb Raider is as good a game out there on the market. If you love female superheroes then buy this game for yourself or Lara Croft fanastics everywhere.

I got the game for only $8 but I was blown away. tomb raider legend is a great game filled with quick thinking missions that will either leave you in a dark pit or onto the plot of the story. I recommend the game for its less than $10 value and for people out there that wished they would make a mature Indiana Jones game. The achievement system was pretty good. I got around 9 - 12 hours to beat the whole game in hard mode.
