Excellent Game. Love playing "stealth" way. 5 stars

The game was well made. You can choose your style of "fighting" either assualt, stealth or "redding recommendations". You have so many options to choose from, such as whether you want to use lethal or non-lethal force. You can knock the people out, or stab them. If you are standing a certain way, you can cut their throat, climb buildings, you can interogate enemies, hold enemies hostage, use enemies as shields if you're getting shot at, and much much more (violent, i know, but that's why its rated "M"). I don't play video games anymore, but when i did, this was definately one of my favorites.
5 Stars. 2 Thumbs Up. Only thing i didnt like is you can only use your pistol and rifle given to you (no picking up other enemies' weapons), however, your rifle has a lot of "attachments" which are cool.

I loved the first two installments in the Splinter Cell series, and this game is certainly the best I've played in stealth gaming. Why? Two words: Combat Knife. 'nuff said.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory PC

I bought this game a few weeks ago and was amazed at the graphics that it had. The same game that I used to play on the PlayStation 2 didn't have as much detail as the PC version. Also, unlike the PlayStation 2 version the online feature has many more options during game play, and to top it off the online play overall is much better then the PlayStation 2 version. if I had to rate this game from 1-10
1 being the worst and 10 being the best, It would be a 9.

  Great Game

Chaos Theory was a game that I contemplated buying long before it ever actually fell into my hands. I was afraid it was not done very well or that i would not appreciate the genre, I was wrong on both accounts this game is great. Sam Fisher is a great character the story line throughout is full of twists and turns.

My first real gripe is that the game ended really very abruptly which made it seem like a short play through which is certainly is not. Secondly, some the missions are a little unclear on where to go or how to proceed forward making it necessary to check the online walkthroughs.

These were my only two problems with the game. It really is rather brilliant, the stealth system has been really beefed up since Pandora's Tomorrow, making it much more realistic and enjoyable.

I would highly suggest this game to anyone who is methodical and notices all the little nooks and crannies in a room. If you like classic shoot 'em up games this is now for you. If you have even a modicum of patience however you will find this game very enjoyable.

High quality entry in the sneak genera.
Review created: 06/09/06

The sub-genera of sneaking doesn't have all that many entries. This is a high quality one. One drawback is that the game is also ported to consoles, causing the PC version to suffer from some seemingly odd control choices that take a bit of getting used to. That happens to most multiported games, so either get used to it or get a gamepad for your computer.

My favorite of the Splinter Cell series

What an awesome game. The first couple levels go a little bit slow, but once you play the third level you really start to get the hang of it and you'll become hooked. The graphics are awesome and the AI is pretty good. Many complain that the enemies are too stupid. But if they were smarter, the game would be too realistic and therefore way too hard. The game offers some neat attachments but I never use them. I love sneaking up on people and grabbing them. You can save wherever and whenever you want. Do this often so that you can replay small sections of the level until you get it down perfectly. I've played all 4 Splinter Cell games and I love this one the most. I'm currently working through it a second time whereas I'm selling the other Splinter Cell games I've already beaten.

  Teriffic!
Review created: 07/07/07

When I got this game, I thought it was just gonna be the same stuff from the first Splinter Cell games, but with a different story line. I was wrong.

There's all kinds of different moves that are introduced in this game. Moves that make Sam Fisher just that much more awesome. The plot follows a similar line like the others, but it's still put together well and keeps you interested. Also, with the PC version, if one has a high-end graphics card, the graphics are breathtaking for a Splinter Cell game. Sam and all the baddies now have very distinct movements and expressions.

All in all, a great game. A must have for any Splinter Cell fan.

Combat knife. Enough said.

  splinter cell (PC)
Review created: 07/05/07

Splinter cell chaos theory was a pretty good "sneaker" game. You have plenty of opportunity to sneak around here, if you like that sort of action.
In fact, to get maximum scores, you need to sneak as much as possible. You actually LOSE points for killing people. Even if you do it real sneaky like.
However, that's a real minor flaw, and let's face it, the only real difference between killing and a sleeper hold is right button or left button. You still have to hide the bodies.
The game play was excellent, and well paced. The actual story line is nothing to be concerned about, but again, if you are going for points, you should listen up. Personally, I find it much better to disregard all the blather and just go through it doing whatever you want. Sneak when you want to sneak, kill when you want to kill. Sooner or later, you will get the job done. If you want to know where your next objective is, there is a 3d map that will help you find it. Just get to that room, and when you bump into the objective, it will give you the options you need to complete it.
Ah, the options. There lies the real bugger in this game. If your instruction manual was like mine, it provides no mention of how to cycle through your options. You may have six options, but you only get the first one.
That seems like a bigger obsticle than it really is. I always just used the first (and only) option on the list, and it worked fine. Just be prepared to enter any room shooting.
Gadgets:
I thought the gadgets sounded pretty cool, but I never got to use any of them.
I believe the manual may have told how to use them, but truthfully, anyone who tried to use all that crap would end in a world of hurt. I am embarassed that a mature operator like Sam even bothers to carry that junk. Surely by now he should have learned that your best weapon is to keep all your senses right where you are, not fiddling with some remote gadget.
In the long run, you evidently don't need the gadgets, although they could be great if you can wrap your mind around them.
I definitely recommend the higher skill levels, just because the lower ones let you get away with stuff you would never get away with in real life, and that just promotes bad habits.
Overall, I thought it was a great game, but I wish the manual told how to do things like open a door stealthily, or even use the little optic fiber peeker. (Yes, its a gadget, but its a good one.)
